I had a lousy breakfast this morning. I usually have a healthy breakfast since I'm trying to lose weight, but I had a handful of pretzel crisps and a cup of coffee. Lunch will be a Smart Ones entree because I'm going to look at an apartment on my lunch hour.

My breakfast this morning. I love this cereal.

Two cups of coffee, too.

I was thinking about trying them. So, you recommend, yes?

Yeah, definitely. It's kind of expensive, though, so just wait until it's on sale. The grocery store by me regularly has them 2/$5.

fortunato 03-22-2012 03:02 PM

About to make some mostaccioli and salad with bleu cheese for dinner.

cheebacheeba 03-22-2012 03:08 PM

Last night, I had some Burger King burgers.
I don't usually, but we wanted quick food.
Had a few watercrackers with various dips a bit later.

Coffee this morning.

I actually drove by a Burger King on my lunch break today, and I was so tempted to go get a couple cheeseburgers. I don't eat fast food either, but it smelled so good driving by.

cheebacheeba 03-22-2012 04:31 PM

We call it "Hungry Jacks" here in it's franchise form.
Though at a point we had both - the only difference was, the actual Burger King branded one had a burger called a "Big King" which was like their version of the Big Mac. IMO they did a better job. Really liked it.

newb 03-22-2012 05:27 PM

we had a bunch of people over for St Patricks day and made a few corned beefs....3 of them were boiled [ traditional ] and one we tried a bit different.

you take a flat brisket corned beef....cover it with brown sugar on both sides...place in casserole dish...pour 2 bottles of Guinness in and bake in a 340 oven for 2 1/2 hours.

it came out great but for the record...most people seemed to like the boiled better. Worth a try though and very easy.

Man, that sounds delicious. I'll have to give that a shot soon. Forget waiting until next St. Patrick's Day.

actually I said the same thing to my wife....we love the whole corned beef meal but only have it like once a year.

hammerfan 03-23-2012 03:05 AM

Never was a fan of corned beef. I might have to try it again, though. Since I quit smoking, I've found that there are foods that I never liked that I like now, and vice versa.

Having a Wawa Sizzli Croissant with bacon, egg and cheese, and a cup of Kona coffee with French Vanilla cream.

cheebacheeba 03-23-2012 05:42 AM

Took the lady out for dinner for her birthday.
We went to an Indian restaraunt.

Got some pappadams with carraway seeds in them
Some cucumber raita, some mint sauce, a side dish of diced tomatoes onions and corriander, a masala tea, she had something called a chocolate lassi that didn't seem to have any chocolate in it though somehow tasted like a good approximation, one plain naan bread, one with garlic and parsley, a few starters including a vegetarian pakora, and some chicken tikka.
Some nicely done rice, served with a mild lamb curry with tomato onion and capsicum called bhuna Gosht, butter (aka makhani) chicken, and some palak paneer which is a spinach dish with cooked ?cheese? (bit like haloumi) which was just crazy awesome.
Had some mango khulfi for dessert which is close to what we call ice cream but a bit different in texture.

Really nice meal. Totally stuffed.

fortunato 03-23-2012 07:35 PM

Met a friend at a restaurant called The Tilted Kilt. Turned out to pretty much be an Irish Hooters. Food was good, though. Guinness was on special, so I took advantage of that, too.

FreddyMyers 03-24-2012 07:40 AM

Used to work at an Irish bar that had a Tilted Kilt on the menu: rye/russian/corned beef/potatoes/cabbage/kraut/swiss. Open faced in that order, weighed like a pound or so.

hammerfan 03-24-2012 03:36 PM

Had BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, and cole slaw for dinner.

The temperatures had been so warm here, it just felt right to have summer food. Last night had meatloaf, mac and cheese, creamed corn, and green beans, with lemon meringue pie for dessert (I was at my aunt and uncle's house for dinner). This morning I had a bowl of Quaker Oatmeal Squares and a cup of coffee.

jadephobos 03-26-2012 05:57 AM

Not sure

Sugar smacks or honey smacks?

jadephobos 03-26-2012 05:59 AM

Hey, what'd you think?

I'm eating a chocolate chip bagel and washing it down with a large black coffee.

That would be a hoagie here.

Had a Smart Ones fettuccine alfredo for lunch.

Elvis_Christ 03-26-2012 11:13 PM

Tofu stir fry with Udon noodles.... pretty killer!

ChronoGrl 03-27-2012 08:51 AM

The cafeteria at work has stuffed grape leaves in the salad bar, which makes me incredibly happy.

Anyone else here like stuffed grape leaves? Typically when I get them, my coworkers look at them in disgust: "What the hell IS that?!"

But they're so, so yummy...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolma

I had them with my "usual" sandwich made by Nancy, the sandwich lady:

Roast beef with mozzarella, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and horseradish mayo on a tomato wrap. Sliced pickles. Ruffles on the side.

hammerfan 03-27-2012 08:56 AM

I love stuffed grape leaves! Yummy!

Lunch was a ham and cheese sandwich on the new sandwich thin rounds. With potato chips and a Diet Dr. Pepper.

I better get used to eating sandwiches - I'm going to be moving into my own place in May. Don't really like cooking for just myself.

cheebacheeba 03-27-2012 02:24 PM

Made pizza type things on tortillas last night.
One with pineapple, onion and pepper.
One with plain cheese.
One with chorizo, pineapple, olive and anchovies.
One with bbq sauce, chorizo, beef, olives, pineapple, anchovies, onion.

Yeah chrono - they get called "vine leaves" here, though I always assumed they might be from something like a grapevine. I find them to be hit and miss - they need to have the right balance of acidity I'd say. There's a lebanese restaurant in Sydney that's been open for 40+ years, and holy shit, they just do the best ever vine leaves.

I find that nearly impossible to do.

Elvis_Christ 03-27-2012 02:26 PM

A few cups of black plunger coffee

hammerfan 03-27-2012 04:00 PM

@cheebs: I figure I'll cook for four and that way I'll have leftovers for lunches and dinner.

Hm, I've never had stuffed grape leaves, but that sounds really interesting.
Your "usual" sandwich sounds delicious.

I'm feeling lazy tonight, so it'll probably be peanut butter & jelly for dinner.
