Horror movie from late 70s? Or early 80s
 

Does anyone remember a horror movie where a person is walking stairs and there's someone levitating on the wall behind them? Or they could have entered a room and someone was levitating behind them.
Them the person jumped down to them.
I watched in on a North American television channel in the late 70s out early 80s.

Been bugging me for decades!
