The Great HDC Showdown II - Masters of Cinema

Good Evening HDC!

By popular demand, it's back! Welcome to HDC Showdown II!

All of you have been following the teaser thread for the past 1 month or so now. Just to refresh your memories again :-

1 - Each HDC participant in this Showdown was a part of a random draw of THREE numbers, each of which was allotted to an acclaimed Film Director. They were then asked to list THREE movies of each film director they had chosen, and send it via PM.

2 - Each of those NINE choices of the HDCian will be pitted in a Showdown against the choices of TWO other HDCians. It will be a run to 5 - the first one to 5 votes will win the Showdown. The participants involved in the Showdown can also cast in their own votes too (including a bit of canvassing for their choices, if they may choose to do so).

3 - The winner earns 1 point. The losers get nullified.

4 - All points are added up on the leaderboards, which will be displayed ONCE after every ELEVEN Showdowns.

5 - At the end of all Showdowns of Round 1 (for all 3 Groups), TWO HDCians with the lowest scores in all 3 Groups will be ELIMINATED.

6 - Updated Grid along with the chosen categories of contestants will be posted at the end of each match, for one of you to make the next set of choices.

7 - Whoever is online when the Grid is posted, is eligible to post his/her choices. IN CASE the said person does NOT want to be a part of the Showdown then, he/she may choose to sit out their Showdown and name THREE others who will duke it out between themselves.

8 - A choice once chosen and ending up either winning/losing a Showdown, CANNOT be chosen again. This ensures all other choices AND all other participants a fair chance of gaining some points too.

9 - In case of any conflict/misunderstanding, PM me pointing it out, and I will look into it before finalising a solution/decision. You are free to indulge in ribbing and gentle nudging your opponents, as well as cheering for your choices (which you MUST!), but PLEASE dont degrade the thread into arguments, bickering and fights. Just sit back, and enjoy the ride!

So...

without further ado...

Humm...a showdown of choices! then I think hardly 1 or 2 of my 9 choices got the little chance to win a match:(

cheebacheeba 02-15-2010 10:59 PM

I'm still not sure what, if anything I'm supposed to do here...why am I choosing?

neverending 02-15-2010 11:29 PM

To see which movie is the last one standing.

and eventually find the luckiest HDCian who has a great taste of films.:)

For example, at HDC Showdown 1, there were 2 parts of rounds. Though there were 2 different winners at each part but a mighty HDC member consecutively ranked 2nd in both part at the aggregated results...who was actually the ultimate winner but the sad thing was he didn't receive that recognition at the end.:o

Still have to say it seems a bit of a convoluted process...I'm not sure how random number based designations indicate taste? Probably my A.D.D getting in the way of my full understanding.
Anyways, it seems like I don't have to really vote or anything for this to continue so I'll just let it roll and see what happens.
