So it's hard to screw this up. But both The Thing (1982) especially, and even Thing From Another World (1951), cast a long shadow over this film, and the fans were not happy with how shallow this was. And really, actor Mary Elizabeth Winstead, as Kate Lloyd, does such a great job, she saves this film... to the mild level it reaches. The film lost money (Budget: $35 mil, Boxoffice $32). As we see so often, it was a missed opportunity.

I wish Mary Elizabeth Winstead made an original horror movie instead of that Thing remake. I still haven't seen those Cloverfield movies and I'm looking forward to the second and third ones. Also she's in a remake of a French zombie revival type TV show that I'll check out eventually.

Friday the 13th Remake Killer Cut -

I saw the original cut some type ago. I finally saw the so called Killer Cut and it made no difference to me. I still don't like the movie and will never watch it again.

The Shape Of Water . Well made entertaining Weird Tales type of movie, really enjoyed it. But best picture? Jury's still out on this one.

Wish Upon - 3.5/10

I loved the concept, but the writing, acting and death scenes all sucked.

Knock, Knock - 7/10

Great revenge flick and one of Keanu's better acting performances.

...and boobies are always nice ::big grin::

The Gift (2015) (on netflix)
7/10

"A young married couple's lives are thrown into a harrowing tailspin when an acquaintance from the (Jason Bateman) husband's past brings mysterious gifts and a horrifying secret to light after more than 20 years." - IMDB

Not a bad time-waster. If you're looking for a mild psychological thriller that is a little different from the normal black-and-white good-guys-Vs-bad-guys, you might like this. This is not action-packed, and is more of a slow-burn in regards to suspense. I found the ending interesting, but not at all satisfying. The grey areas created in the main characters' moralities didn't amp-up the suspense or pace, rather it seemed to convolute.
