This is the fan films and shorts thread. When I signed in, I had a few requests wanting me to add movies to the list.

If there are some that you people of HDC, have posted, since I have not be here, and you want them added to the main post, follow the instructions above.

A thread for Horror Short films only (somewhat like our Trailer Discussion Thread)!

Just talk about/share the links or your views about the short horror films that you have seen & found them good/watchable.

Yesterday I saw some HSFs on youtube and found some of them not bad at all & like to share with you guys now...I hope you may like thE films.

SPIDER

Pretty interesting...liked it.

MORSURE (BITTEN)

Frightened and alone, Clara flees through a dark and sinister forest, pursued by a gun-toting man, bent on her destruction. Clara is taken in by a friendly farmer, but appearances can be deceiving. An official selection of the 2008 London Film Festival.

Impressive effort.

You can find a lot more, here....

neverending 07-12-2009 08:00 AM

yes, merging.

Question:

Would you fine people of HDC, like me to add the youtube videos to the places where I have the links? The main reason I have not done this, is for anyone who may be on Dial Up or a slow connection, may have problems loading the page.

guy7545 08-12-2009 01:54 AM

This isn't exactly a short or anything but I didn't know where else to put it, just a teaser (and I mean teaser in every sense!) of a film I'm working on right now which is an odd mixture of Evil Dead/Shaun of the Dead/Lord of the Flies and the Music of Chance. Thought people here may be interested.

Feel free to move this post if it should be somewhere else. :)

Thank you for looking!

Im actually looking for a specific horror short. Was wondering if anyone knew what it was called or how to find it.
Back around 2000-2002 Sci Fi did that show Exposure. Before that, they played these random short horror films. One was about this guy who wanted to be the first person to die when the clock struck midnight on the new year. There was one about this girl who takes her boyfriend home for dinner to meet her family who turn out to be cannibals. But the one Im looking for is about this guy that either shows up to this chicks apartment to rent it or for a date or something, but either way, it turns out that the back room in her apartment is covered in plastic and she gets him tied down to a table and goes at him with a chainsaw. It was pretty crazy and I havent been able to find it since. I figured someone here probably saw it too and maybe could help me find it.

I suggest Autopsy and Inside. These two are indie films but each will scare the sh*t out of you. I'm definitely a gory and horror fanatic but when I watched Inside, my knees were actually shaking because of fear.;)

Not bad for a newbie horror contest entry. It's not clear exactly what his motive is, though, and whether or not I should feel bad for him...

OK. So I actually think that the direction is really good - How shots are framed, the editing, that sort of thing.

The voice over honestly drives me mad - It's heavy-handed and really gets in the way of the movie. Also, I really don't care about any of the characters, so I'm ambivalent as to whether or not they live or die.

Thanks for watching it.. Yeah, i know the writing is crap.. haha, what happened was I am a comedy writer, I wrote for 4 years straight, then took 4 years off to learn to edit, then the last two I have been shooting and directing so, when i came down to doing this short film. I was concerned about directing and not writing.. I needed to go back to square one and make sure the script was good.. before trying to make a film, but you live and your learn.. I am trying to develop a feature length script based off Barnacle Bill, well, see how that goes, once again, it's not comedy.. Thanks for watching.. I do appreciate it.. and the honest criticism is always nice..

No problem - More than happy to. Really wish that I had the motivation, drive, equipment, etc. to put together a short film of my own - I know it's not an easy task, so I don't want to rip apart what is clearly a true effort.

Hey - If you're a comedy writer and it's what you're comfortable with, why not do a horror comedy? I mean, you could take the source material (Barnacle Bill) and turn it into a fun cheese-fest instead of something serious, you know? Then you can take the voice over and make it even MORE over the top and it'll be successful.

Also: Two REALLY nit-picky things... The opening shot, the guy sitting in the boat - for some reason I couldn't help but focus on his, uhm, crack. :o

And our first scene in the car, I'm not sure why our heroine goes from complaining about her small town to screaming outside the car - She goes from frustrated and angry to fun-loving. Just an odd transition. Why not just make her a stereotype backwoods slut? Again, going for the comedy aspect of it might be more fun. :)

Then again, I'm sure a lot of people give you "suggestions" - It's up to you in the end. Good luck with your next endeavors - Keep posting them here! I'd love to see where they go!.

Yeah, I put the butt crack in there in the beginning because I wasn't taking myself seriously, I knew the film was going to be flawed and majorly flawed at that. The guy in the boat is a good high school friend, as is everyone one in the film, so it was just so every-time he watches it, we see his ass crack.. hahaha, plain and simple.

as far as the girl's emotions in the car, the scene was actually supposed to start with her screaming outside of the car, then going into the dialogue, but what happened was on the shoot day we ran behind schedule. I lost two dialogue scenes, and a transition scene, that ties the scene to next one.. I also lost scenes at the party, so I started having to get creative with the edit. Which is a reason why it took me so long to complete. this is far from what it's meant to look like.. there are a lot of things in the movie, that I am like what??? but whatever..

If you want to check out what I've been doing, I actually work for def jam and thelifefiles.com, as well as run my own production company.. www.acrossthebridgeproductions.com and then more of my personal work can be found at http://youtube.com/acrossthebridgemd

I know my website sucks, but I am looking for someone to step that game up..

As far as a comedy/horror that is exactly what I plan on doing with Blood in the Bay feature length.. Its going to be kind of Eastbound and Down meets Halloween

The Brookstreet tag gave it away. Its from Canada, the Ottawa area, made by ultra rich hi tech pioneers son. The director is quite a talent.

This is Sling Blade.

I saw a short film last night, it lasted about 15 minutes, and it was called This is Sling Blade. Has anybody else seen this? From what I gather, is tells about a guy who years back, killed his mother and the guy she was with. He then is being interviewed by some people, and then gets a job. From what I have been told, this short subject film, is related to the movie Sling Blade. Is this true? It seems to be the case to me. So is it or is it not related to Sling Blade?

Thou shalt Not Judge

Hey! Here's a short vid I did over the weekend. Coincidently we shot it on May 21st the so called judgement day. I've been playing this character for four years, mostly as a stand up character. I've also included a vid of some of my stand up. The characters name is Gerald Gerald Geraldson. I got a play coming in a few months as well.
