"In these short tales, Shaun Jeffrey uses the subtle and the shocking to equally strong effect. His crisp prose turns each tale into a fast and thrilling ride through a tormented landscape of loss, lust and fear, and his work is infused with enough intellect and meaningful detail to make each trip memorable." - Lee Thomas - Bram Stoker Award-winner. Author of 'Parish Damned' and 'The Dust of Wonderland'.

Shaun goes straight for the jugular with every sentence and takes no prisoners ... Not one story in this collection disappointed me. - Kevin Etheridge, Dark Discoveries Magazine

Voyeurs of Death packs quite a wallop - Horror Web

The stories are most effective at their bleakest, allowing, in several instances of Jeffrey's work, the sinister portrait of humanity to paint itself in electrifying hues of blood red. - Bella Online

Voyeurs of Death blew me away. - Bookideas.com

The handful of tales offered here show a writer of notable promise and talent, one who has a refreshingly original imagination and the lean writing chops to make us hungry for the full buffet likely to follow. - Dark Scribe Magazine

"Voyeurs of Death" is guaranteed to have a little something for everyone. - Necro Carnival

My recommendation: grab this book, enjoy the tales and keep an eye open for Shaun Jeffrey. I certainly hope to read more from him. - Horror World

Voyeurs of Death shows Shaun Jeffrey as an accomplished spookmeister. - Future Fire

About the author

http://www.shaunjeffrey.com/Shaun%20Jeffrey.jpg

Born in 1965 and residing in Cheshire, England with his partner, Debra and their fantastic son, Callum, Shaun Jeffrey has been writing for many years. He grew up in a house in a cemetery, his playground was the graveyard - perfect grounding for writing horror, and his early reading experience came from headstones! Shaun Jeffrey has had over 40 short stories published, one collection entitled Voyeurs of Death (now with the expanded version available from Dark Regions Press), and three novels, Evilution, The Kult and Deadfall.

He tries to write most days, but as it's not his fulltime profession, he’s afraid real life intervenes in the form of his day job, which is working on the railway as a Signalling and Telecommunication Engineer. Among his previous jobs, He’s been a fitness instructor, made ammunition, and worked in a food factory, all of which gives him experience upon which to draw, or write, as the case may be.

Description

The Mad & The Macabre...

Two novellas, previously only available as hardcover limited editions, now joined together into one affordable package!

KUTTER by Jeff Strand.

Charlie Stanlon is a serial killer. A ghastly, vicious sociopath who chains women to a table in his basement and tortures them to death. He has no friends. He has no family. He despises his co-workers. His only pleasure in life is to cause pain and terror.

Until the day he finds an adorable Boston Terrier and takes it home...

REMAINS by Michael McBride.

On May 21st, 2008, seven graduate students in Religious Studies set out from the University of Colorado in search of God. Armed with only their faith and the scriptures, they traveled to the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. None of them were ever heard from again.

On November 13th, 2010, their families set off to recreate their final days in hopes of discovering their fate...

"[McBride] displays pitch-perfect pacing and creates interesting, believable characters, resulting in a tale that's gripping and yet at times also philosophical." -- Robert Morrish, Cemetery Dance

"Jeff Strand beautifully crafts a heart-wrenching tale of a man and his dog...and his unquenchable thirst for murder." -- Desmond Reddick, Dread Media

Editions

Trade Paperback: 6 x 9, has a beautiful 12 point full color cover, 60lb. natural vellum stock, and the first 100 copies are signed by the author.

About the authors

Jeff Strand and Michael McBride have written over thirty books, though not together. Their novels include PRESSURE (Jeff), BLOODLETTING (Mike), DWELLER (Jeff), THE INFECTED (Mike), WOLF HUNT (Jeff), GOD’S END (Mike), BENJAMIN’S PARASITE (Jeff), and INNOCENTS LOST (Mike).

Mike likes to write about science and the end of the world, and does a lot of research. Jeff likes to write about psycho killers and flesh-eating monsters, and does significantly less research. Jeff thinks Mike should really be taking better advantage of Facebook as a promotional tool, but the fact that Mike doesn’t waste time on Facebook might help explain why he writes his books at a steady, consistent pace while Jeff freaks out right before the deadline.

In any other city in the world, the discovery of Mary-Jane Palmer's body floating in the river would have been sad, and disquieting, that was all. A four-line filler on the inside pages of the daily newspapers. A minor tragedy passed over like a dead bird in the road. But this was Paris, the river was the Seine, and because of that the proceedings were tinted with a vague gothic suggestion of romance. A small crowd gathered - middle-aged businessmen in their sleek, well-filled suits; art students and booksellers; a few tourists; a few old women with faces wrinkled like contour maps. The gendarmerie arrived and kept their siren going long after it was necessary, as though to add to the occasion. They walked around the body and gazed at it through squinted eyes.
L'amour, they muttered.
L'amour.
Until they turned her over.
And saw her face...

What is a ghost? Merely a disembodied spirit? You'll find plenty of those here, but there are other kinds as well. An entity created by a child's imagination. A mysterious pale figure on a bleak, deserted moor. A madman who is not dead yet but...

Tony Richards has been hailed as "one of today's masters of dark fiction," and has been penning supernatural tales for more than thirty years. Come with him as he voyages the world in search of the dark arcane. The jungled slopes of Penang, and Malaysia. The night-bound alleyways of Tokyo and New York. Everywhere that holds a shadow also holds a deadly secret and this book reveals them all, in a collection that includes the critically acclaimed novella Postcards from Terri and four brand-new stories, never seen in print before.

Most people would call Ty Trotter a loser. He lives off his vampire girlfriend, can't hold a job, drinks and smokes the cheapest stuff on the shelves, and is Chairman for Life of his own Pity Committee, spending all his free time getting drunk, watching late-night TV and feeling sorry for himself.

Most people would call Ed Ma a nerd. He lives with his parents and attends school part time. He doesn't have a job, doesn't talk to girls, doesn't know how to network, and doesn't know what he wants to do when he finally grows up. He does what his momma tells him and always tries to be a good son. He spends all his free time either at the gym or on the internet.

But while most people are asleep, Ty and Ed roam the streets of Atlanta, pushing the darkness back an inch at a time by any means necessary. You see, they hunt vampires, the parasitic undead that threaten the good people of the city. Ty snipes them with a big-game rifle, Ed cuts 'em down a sword backed up by kung fu power.

Maybe they really are losers. They sure ain't registered voters, college professors, or members of the Chamber of Commerce. But they are...HARD BOILED VAMPIRE KILLERS

"Hard Boiled Vampire Killers" is a rip-roaring, gun-slinging, ass kicking, Kung Fu, vampire and ghost extravaganza that does not disappoint and is a welcome addition to the genre. If you are tired of romantic, wimpy, depressing sparkly vampires look no further than Jim Gavin's exceptional "Hard Boiled Vampire Killers" to get your fill of vampires that are actually vampires...it might just be the most fun I have had reading a book this year." --Peter Schwotzer, Famous Monsters of Filmland

"Hard Boiled Vampire Killers" is about alliances formed under duress, and freaks and geeks uniting for a lofty purpose. Jim Gavin's spin on the material possesses spunk and Stamina in its verbal vigor, and fun fantastical frays... --Sheila Merritt, Hellnotes

"Pulp is alive and well in the heart and fingertips of Jim Gavin, With HBVK, Gavin comes out swinging, delivering a superior first novel. Explosive, demanding, and very rewarding." --Andersen Prunty, author of Morning is Dead

"Jim Gavin's Hard Boiled Vampire Killers is a welcome change from everything I have come to expect from the modern vampire story. It was also a bloody good time!" --Brian Knight from the introduction of Hard Boiled Vampire Killers

"Of all the young writers I've read recently, Jim Gavin has my favorite narrative voice. It's fresh, witty, biting, and moves with a dizzying speed that engage me like few others. His work is gritty and visceral, hearkening back to the detective novels of the 40's and 50's. I highly recommend his work to anyone who loves the power and majesty of well-crafted language." --D.A. Adams, author of The Brotherhood of Dwarves series

Strange Shapes hiding in the shadows cast by the moonlight. Eerie noises drifting out of the forest and rising into the night. The sound of inhuman footsteps approaching from somewhere in the darkness. A pair of gleaming eyes peering in through your window at midnight.

This is the nightmarish, haunted world you will enter in this new collection of 17 tales - including six never before published - by Stephen Mark Rainey, long time editor of Deathrealm magazine and author of such acclaimed works as Balak, The Lebo Coven, Blue Devil Island, The Last Trumpet, and Other Gods. Enter willingly...and prepare yourself for a chilling journey through some of the most frightening literary landscapes you have ever experienced.

"Stephen Mark Rainey has one those slow voices that slides up from deep inside and lulls his readers into a false sense of security, just before coiling his words around them and stealing their breath."
-- David Niall Wilson, Macabre, Ink; author of Deep Blue, The Mote in Andrea's Eye, and others

"The sheer variety of settings and Rainey's remarkable command of appropriate styles of and voices deserves amazed respect. The flat-out monster story, the ooze-slime-blob invasion, and others rise with new and eerie life from Dr. Rainey's lab table."
-- Robert M. Price; editor of Crypt of Cthulhu magazine, Chaosium's "Cthulhu Cycle" line of anthologies, and more

"Stephen Mark Rainey's works are the most disturbing kind. He gives us the lurking darkness, the scrabbling monsters that haunt our midnight, waking hours. Rainey is a nightmare-weaver."
-- Elizabeth Massie; award-winning author of Sineater, Shadow Dreams, The Fear Report, and many others

"Stephen Mark Rainey is a master at grounding horror and terror in a time and place. His stories are effective because he understands character, as well as the motivations of both his people and his monsters. And in a field often tinged with cynicism, Rainey shows us that monsters can also be fun. One of our best contemporary storytellers."
-- Scott Nicholson, author of They Hunger

When Teri Knight answers a knock at the front door, she discovers her son Gabriel standing in the doorway. Only it can't be her son. Gabe took a bike ride to the park ten years ago, at age 11, and became one of the disappeared. He would be 21 now and this boy ... this boy is the same age as Gabe was when he went missing. Except for the color of his eyes, he looks exactly like her son. He's wearing the same clothes her son wore the day he disappeared. He even refers to her as Mom.

If he is Gabe, how is that possible?

Why hasn't he aged?

Where has he been for ten years?

And why is he so weak and in apparent ill health?

Teri is struggling with each of these questions and barely getting to know this boy who has arrived so unexpectedly, miraculously at her door, when a team of armed men arrive at the house in search of the boy.

For Gabe and Teri the clock is now ticking - and time is running out.

Who are these men?

What do they want?

Is this boy really Teri's lost son, Gabe?

A dark thriller with a highly unusual and inventive twist.

David B. Silva's short fiction has appeared in The Year’s Best Horror, The Year’s Best Fantasy & Horror, and The Best American Mystery Stories. In 1991, he won a Bram Stoker Award for his short story, “The Calling.” His first collection, Through Shattered Glass, was published by Gaunlet Press in 2001. In 2009, Dark Regions published his collection of eleven new stories and one reprint, In The Shadows of Kingston Mills.

In addition, he's written eight novels, including The Disappeared.

He lives a subdued life in the surreal city of Las Vegas, where there are many stories still to be told...

Bentley Little says: "Combining the deft characterization of vintage Stephen King with the literary subtlety of the best of Ramsey Campbell, David B. Silva has for years been turning out stunning fiction that has never gotten the audience it deserves. In my opinion, he is one of the best damn authors working today."

Dark Regions Press is excited to announce a brand new novel in the Dark Thriller series, Fifteen Minutes by William Ollie. The novel will be available for preorder on our website in March, but you can read more about the book via this link:

Click here to read more about Fifteen Minutes by William Ollie!

It is a ring, forged deep within the jungles of Ecuador, centuries ago.

Sixteen-year-old Simon had no idea what he was getting into when his mother packed him off to spend the summer at Granny's house.

A cat's eye ring with mystical powers.

The first thing he noticed was the hip clothing, the uncharacteristic sultry language and wild, futuristic hairdo. The second was the cool ring she wore.

The power to become another, to ward off an enemy by becoming that enemy.

Now his grandmother is dead, and if he hadn't killed her, he'd certainly had a hand in her demise. He should've been horrified at what lay before him, dismayed at the part he had played. But he was neither of these things. He was excited, elated, because what lay before him was not his dead grandmother, but a mystery as deep as the meaning of life itself, an adventure of a lifetime.

One he can't wait to embark upon.

Praise for William Ollie

"(The Damned has) Muscular prose brimming with confidence, the novel loaded with gloriously twisted scenes.
--Bryan Smith, author of Queen Of Blood and The Freakshow

"(The Damned is) A thoroughly riveting, fascinating novel."
--Jeff Strand, author of Pressure and The Haunted Forest Tour

"(Sideshow is) Lurid but memorable... a wonderfully weird conclusion as nostalgic as an old EC comic..."
--Publisher's Weekly

Recently divorced Tess Waters is an attractive young professional woman and mother of Emily, her precocious six-year-old daughter. Tess cannot understand why her ex-husband, Josh, who obviously still cares for his ex and madly loves his little daughter, had to spoil their marriage by having a torrid affair with another woman.

There's certainly no love lost between Tess Waters and the "other woman"--Josh's now live-in girlfriend, the mysterious and highly sexual Gillian. Indeed, Tess assumes that her divorce has been caused by Josh following the compulsions of his..."lower" brain, rather than his primary one. Indeed, Josh does seem mesmerized by the beautiful Gillian, who seems to be able to anticipate and fulfill his every desire.

But, as the relationship between Josh and Gillian starts to become more serious, simmering tensions between Tess and Gillian, and resentments concerning raising Emily boil over. Suddenly, Tess' home begins to be subjected to a bizarre infestation of flies. The infestation quickly spreads and soon Tess and her daughter are fighting for their very lives and souls against a powerful supernatural force that seeks to destroy them. Someone's hiding a dark, deadly and ancient secret, and Tess' chance meeting with a small band of runaway teens living on the streets, one of who's a practicing Wiccan witch, seems to offer their only hope of survival. Can this strange alliance between street-teens and soccer mom be sufficient to defeat a relentless and implacable unearthly enemy and the nightmarish dark surge of ravening deadly insects under its control that threaten to engulf them all?

After the death of his wife, Bruce Holden moves to the quaint coastal fishing village of Mulberry with his son, Jack. He is hoping for a fresh start, but the locals greet their arrival with mixed reactions, from friendliness to open hostility. Bruce puts it down to them being outsiders, but when a tourist is killed while swimming, the real horror is unleashed. There's something ravenous in the sea. Something that's coming ashore in search of prey. Now Bruce and Jack find themselves embroiled in a nightmare where humankind is no longer at the top of the food chain.

Praise for Shaun Jeffrey:

"With Kult, Shaun Jeffrey hits one out of the park with this creepy, character-driven thriller that starts with a jolt, stays in the fast lane, and plunges into the darkest territory of the human mind. It's a bumpy ride through nightmare country." -- Jonathan Maberry, multiple Bram Stoker Award winning author of PATIENT ZERO and PUNISHER: NAKED KILL.

"Jeffrey, one of horror's rising young stars, has really hit his stride with THE KULT. Part mystery, part police procedural, part horror story, it's one thrilling ride. Jeffrey had me guessing at the killer's identity half a dozen times, and the reveal, when it finally came, knocked me over. You don't want to miss this one!" --Nate Kenyon, author of THE REACH and THE BONE FACTORY.

Praise for Evilution by Shaun Jeffrey:

"A classic thriller from a talented new author" -- Guy N. Smith, author of NIGHT OF THE CRABS and THE SLIME BEAST.

"Shaun Jeffrey's debut novel is haunting, disturbing and spooky as hell" -- Tim Lebbon, Stoker Award winning author of FACE.

It may look like a perfectly ordinary New England town, a little larger than most. But Raine's Landing, Massachusetts, holds some very dark secrets. The real witches of Salem fled here just before the Trials of 1692, and the place has been full of magic -- the good and the bad kind -- ever since. And a curse hangs over the whole population ... there are so many people because nobody born here can ever leave.

Now the Landing is facing its worst peril yet, monstrous flying creatures in the service of an evil older than the Universe itself. They have an unpleasant way of possessing people to their side, and their powers keep on growing until little can withstand them. Most of the major adepts succumb ... there are only two left to defend Raine's Landing. And the town's chief troubleshooter, ex-cop Ross Devries, has an enormous challenge on his hands. He needs to get his former sidekick, Cassie, back into the fight. And if they are to have any slightest chance of winning through, they're going to have to make some very strange new friends, and new alliances to save Raine's Landing, and save the world.

"A hell of a writer, one of today's masters of dark fiction."
--Mario Guslandi, Horror World

"Richards is a master at combining horror, fantasy and humor in a way that will mesmerize readers from cover to cover."
--Rhomylly Forbes, Romantic Times Book Reviews

"The rest of us stand on the sidelines with eyes wide open at his audacity and wonder what he'll do next."
--Peter Tennant, Black Static

"By weaving this fantasy into a modern setting, Richards creates something unique."
--Clay Bye, Alternative Reads

In case you don't recognize the name Garrett Cook, HDC People, that's me. Gina is a wonderful person and a fantastic writer. Her Bizarro and her horror work are both top notch, which is incredible because although the genres are interconnected and meet at several junctures, Bizarro authors don't have sensibilities that lend them to masterworks of quiet horror, which House of Fallen Trees was. I expect good things from Dark Surge. You should too.

Some seaweed, a jellyfish and some material brought back from the Peabodie expedition to Antarctica. An innoccuous enough blend you might think. But when a storm in the North Atlantic frees a sample that has been dormant inside an old wreck, the new creature finds that it is hungry. Our plastics-oriented society has given it an abundant supply of food... more than enough for it to grow, and build, and spread.

Can anyone escape the terror that is... THE CREEPING KELP?

Praise for William Meikle:

Aims for pure entertainment ... and hits the mark.
- Simon Morden, VECTOR

The author is relentless; just when you catch your breath, something new and exciting happens, sending you spinning into another part of the adventure, and keeping you flipping pages to see what's next.
- David Wilbanks, Horrorworld

... solid prose commands attention right from the start and carries the reader straight through to the climax.
- Garrett Peck for Cemetery Dance #40

...descriptions so vivid you can almost hear the clash of the swords and smell the blood.
- Murder and Mayhem Bookclub

Anyone who's fond of a good story and a good piece of writing will enjoy Meikle's clever conceits, interesting and earthy characters, and well turned prose.
- Dread Central

Meikle is a writer that can grace the page with words of beauty whilst twisting a nightmare into grotesque shapes before your eyes.
- Len Maynard and Mick Sims

William Meikle's short stories and novels are shining examples of what is missing in horror fiction today: atmospheric in style, old-school in character, with an intriguing story to be told. Utmost use is made of the author's native Scotland in many of his tales, and his forays into the Cthulhu Mythos stories are original in concept, building on Lovecraft's works.
- David Wynn, Mythos Books

In hidden places, they sleep and dream, and through their dreams they touch humanity--but their touch brings only the stains of horror, death, and madness...until the day the Old Ones return.

In The Engines of Sacrifice, acclaimed writer James Chambers delivers four nightmare novellas inspired by the Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft.

Investigation 37: In the late years of the Vietnam War, Lavender May runs away from home to search for freedom and peace in New York City, but instead, she finds only a world of magic, witchcraft, and lies.

The Ugly Birds: Only one thing could save Carmine Darabont's comics magazine from going under: publishing the next chapter of the hit series "The Otherworlders." But what dark secret drives its creator--Carmine's ex-fiancé--to refuse to deliver it?

The Hidden Room: At the height of the Cold War, Doctor Calvin Lenox is a member of the Nuclear Emergency Search Team. With his life spiraling into despair, he confronts the mystery of a runaway Soviet defector and the death of three men, only to find himself at the mercy of...the Faceless God.

The Engines of Sacrifice: What is the power of words? Can they control the fabric of reality? In a horrifying new world, underground author Rowley Cray struggles against a totalitarian government gone insane and the possibility that he can control the souls of the dead.

Praise for James Chambers:

"Chambers is adept at striking the perfect balance of darkness and light...." --Dark Wisdom

"...Chambers acknowledges the internal monsters of the psyche. He also adroitly addresses the external evils; those terrors that are kept at bay for the sense of sanity. --Hellnotes

"...for those who like their horror straight up and to the point..."
--Horror Fiction Review

"Chambers has a skill for evoking the emotions that are needed in the horror field." --David Agranoff, Postcards from a Dying World

With his first collection from Dark Regions Press, W. H. Pugmire continues his radical and obsessive reinterpretations of H. P. Lovecraft's brilliant fiction. Among the book's original pieces is the title story, "Gathered Dust," a sequel to J. Vernon Shea's "The Haunter of the Graveyard." Set in Arkham, this tale of utter strangeness concerns the legacy of Randolph Carter and a monstrous burying ground where the phantoms of the past linger so as to feed upon the living. In "Depths of Dreams and Madness" we journey to Pugmire's Sesqua Valley, wherein we find Lovecraft's artist, Richard Upton Pickman and Robert E. Howard's mad poet, Justin Geoffrey, tainted by the valley's supernatural lunacy. With "These Deities of Rarest Air," Pugmire continues his exploration of the prose-poem/vignette sequence, in a work that deliciously evokes the mystic aura of not only Lovecraft but Clark Ashton Smith as we ll. With artful decadence and a pen dipped into the dark fin-de-siècle poetry of Oscar Wilde and Charles Baudelaire, Pugmire celebrates his beloved genre of fantastic fiction with works that only his cracked skull could conceive. Jeffrey Thomas has provided a provocative Introduction.

Pugmire's books include The Tangled Muse (Centipede Press, 2011), Some Unknown Gulf of Night (Arcane Wisdom Press, 2011) and The Strange Dark One--Tales of Nyarlathotep (Miskatonic River Press, 2011). His second book from Hippocampus Press, Uncommon Places, will be published next year. He is currently writing a collection of Lovecraftian tales with Jeffrey Thomas, for a book to be published by Dark Regions Press.

"Wilum Hopfrog Pugmire is the prose-poet of the horror/fantasy field; he may be the best prose-poet we have."
- S. T. Joshi

"In my opinion, he's the best living writer of Lovecraftiana."
- Toren Atkinson, of the band Darkest of the Hillside Thickets

"Sometimes subtle, sometimes as blunt as a rosewood coffin, Pugmire's stories are always emotional. Drawing from his own rather bizarre life, it's often difficult to separate the facts from the fiction, even for those who presume to know him."
- Ken Abner, editor of Terminal Frights

"Amazing and vastly underappreciated (but that is quickly changing! !!) Wilum H. Pugmire's unique Lovecraftian fiction has graced the pages of many(! !!) magazines and anthologies. This new release by Pugmire WILL taint the hearts of Lovecraftian fans with all manner of eldritch joys!"
- Joseph S. Pulver, Sr., author of SIN & ashes and Blood Will Have Its Season

His many books, published and forthcoming, include THE TANGLED MUSE (Centipede Press), SOME UNKNOWN GULF OF NIGHT (Arcane Wisdom Press), THE STRANGE DARK ONE--TALES OF NYARLATHOTEP (Miskatonic River Press) and UNCOMMON PLACES (Hippocampus Press). Rob McKenna knew all about pain and suffering. As a member of a top secret black ops mission deep inside Pakistan, his Marine Force Recon Unit had a close up and personal tour of Hell on Earth and the horrors that men are capable of doing to one another. When he returned back stateside to Napa, California, Rob was a shadow of his former self, a broken young man left clinging to the tattered fragments of his marriage, his memory, and the rapid decline of his physical and mental health.

Coming back from the war was supposed to be the end of Rob's misery, the start of his new life, but unfortunately Hell had followed him home and the horror and pain had only just begun. Waiting for him where he least expected.

"Gene O'Neill's imagination transcends genre conventions. His prose is simultaneously lyrical and gritty, poetic and violent. With Rusting Chickens, O'Neill captures the vicious nature of warfare, not merely in physical combat, but in the psychological battles a soldier is cursed to fight for the remainder of his days. This is Gene O'Neill at his finest!"
- Michael McBride, author of Predatory Instinct and Blindspot

"From the brutal horrors of modern war, to the twisted battlefields of the healing human mind, Gene O'Neill takes his growing legion of fans on a chilling journey they won't soon forget. RUSTING CHICKENS will leave readers breathless and guessing right to the bitter end... and beyond. Highly recommended!"
- Gord Rollo, Author of Valley Of The Scarecrow and Strange Magic.

They have been married for 40 plus years; their grown children, Gavin and Kay Dee, live in Oakland and San Diego. Gene has two degrees, neither having anything to do with writing (or much of anything else). At one time or another he has been a college basketball player, an amateur boxer, a Marine, carried mail, worked on seismic crews exploring for oil, been a Right-of-Way Agent (appraised, acquired, condemned, and managed real property to build the interstate highway system around Sacramento), been a contract specialist for AAFES (contracting to bring private services like barbers, cleaners, and beauty parlors onto military bases), and vice president of a small manufacturing plant. Gene describes his employment background as “rich, varied, and colorful.” His brother-in-law, the president of the above manufacturing plant, describes Gene as more of a “disgruntled ne’er-do well.”

Since surviving the Clarion Writers' Workshop in 1979,Gene has seen over 120 of his stories published, perhaps most notably: two in the Twilight Zone Magazine, six in the
Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, two in Pulpsmith, four in Science Fiction Age, three in Cemetery Dance, and many in specialized publications like Dragon and Starshore, with numerous anthology placements, including Borderlands 5 and DEAD END:CITY LIMITS. Stories have been reprinted in France, Spain, and Russia. A few of his past stories have garnered Nebula and Stoker recommendations, including “Balance,” a short story Stoker finalist in 2007, and THE CONFESSIONS OF ST. ZACH, a Stoker finalist in the long fiction category in 2009. DOC GOOD’S TRAVELING SHOW was a long fiction Stoker finalist in 2010 and TASTE OF TENDERLOIN won that year for collection. Some of these stories have been collected in GHOST SPIRITS, COMPUTERS & WORLD MACHINES, THE GRAND STRUGGLE, and TASTE OF TENDERLOIN, which also garnered a 2009 starred review in Publishers Weekly. Upcoming is another collection in 2011: DANCE OF THE BLUE LADY & OTHER STORIES. His novels include, THE BURDEN OF INDIGO, COLLECTED TALES OF THE BAJA EXPRESS, SHADOW OF THE DARK ANGEL, DEATHFLASH, LOST TRIBE, and the recently completed NOT FADE AWAY. All of these novels and the two forthcoming collections have been/will be released as s/l HBs in 2010, 2011, and 2012 along with the CAL WILD trilogy in 2012. Also to see release soon are two novella, RUSTING CHICKENS from Dark Regions Press and DOUBLEJACK from Sideshow Press. Hades is in upheaval. The Damned are rebelling, and worse, the more human-like breeds of Demons are beginning to sympathize with their plight. The Creator Himself decides to venture into Hades to address this conflict, a conflict which may test His very sanity...and make him a target of assassination. Against this tense background, a Damned man named Frank Lyre and a beautiful winged Demon named Oni act out a passionate love affair, but they too will be swept into a battle that may decide the future of all Creation.

Subversive, sexy, poetic and nightmarish, Beautiful Hell is set in the world of Jeffrey Thomas' short story collection Voices From Hades, and the novels The Fall of Hades and Letters From Hades, about which F. Paul Wilson said, "Jeffrey Thomas' imagination is as twisted as it is relentless."

It begins innocently enough, with the death of a prostitute in Bedford Square, London. She isn't the first 'flower girl' to die and she won't be the last, not now the killer had a taste for it.

The man, Nathaniel Seth, is one of the Brethren, a shadow society of occult dabblers and black magickers who hide away in the darkest parts of the city, in corners where they could not be seen by polite society. Little did Seth know that his own life was only hours from ending, his flesh to be taken as host for a daemonic entity clawed all the way out of hell's pit in the centre of the hollow earth because Seth himself breached the Catamine Stair. Now things are afoot. Strange things. The lions of Traflagar have fulfilled their prophecy, climbing down from the plinths around Lord Nelson's column to defend the city. The daemon is out, stalking tender prey through the gaslit streets, meat markets, fish stalls and slaughter houses of Whitehall. He has a taste for women, though not ordinary women. These women are different. Special. They may look like whores but they have the blood of angels flowing in their veins. If he can kill enough of them, bathing in their innocent blood, then the daemonic Seth believes he can open the ancient Ald Gate--one of the seven great gates of London--the last gate to Eden, and go home, even if it means tearing London herself apart.

The gates are guarded by The Seven, bloodsucking angelkind put there to guard a very special prisoner. A prisoner who cannot be allowed to escape. Satanial. The Devil by another name. Cast down and trapped in a hell on earth, watched over by Uriel, the mad Archangel.

A few stedfast men stand in the daemon's way, led by Fabian Stark, a man himself doomed to die before even the first die is cast, and each of them cursed in their own way: Dorian Carruthers, Haddon McCreedy, Eugene Napier, Anthony Millington, and Brannigan Locke. The Grayfriar's Gentleman's Club.

Can these few men stop the daemonic Seth from opening the gates and all hell breaking loose?

It is as though Savile is the bastard child of Philip Pulman and Neil Gaiman, and London Macabre, part serial killer novel, part vast fabulist Victoriana epic, part Steampunk novel with a great slice of occultism and mysticism as well as a radical warping of all things holy, is quite unlike any dark fantasy novel you've ever read.

Inspired in part by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Percy Bysshe Shelley's, Prometheus Unbound, and the works of Rider Haggard and R. E. Howard, Isis Unbound is set in an alternate history, steampunk version of 1890's Manceastre, Britanniae, ruled by a new governor general related to a descendant of Anthony and Cleopatra, who won the battle of Actium two thousand years ago, and where the ancient Egyptian gods are real. ...Only a god can kill a god. Nepythys has killed her sister, Isis, and therefore the dead cannot pass over to the underworld--their ranks are rapidly swelling and they now roam the streets as zombies. Chief Embalmer Ptolemy Child's two daughters, Ella and Loli, aged eighteen and ten respectively, are being instructed in the secrets of the mummification process, when the dead begin to wake and walk. And eventually lead the sisters to the greatest mystery of all: Isis, herself...

'Allyson Bird is a writer who never plays it safe. Her wild imagination and power to evoke both myth and madness make her one of the most interesting writers working out there on the edge of horror/fantasy.'
— Lisa Tuttle.

'Allyson Bird is a rare bird indeed. An original voice in a world of plain vanilla. She rides some dark waves with grace and heart full of light and shadow. If there's any justice, she on her way to real recognition.' and she, ‘already has a prominent award under her belt; the British Fantasy Society award for her first collection, which I can also recommend, titled Bull Running For Girls. Still, you may not know her name. You should know her name. You should know her stories, her writing. Her work is as fresh as a spring wind; especially if that wind is carrying nasty spores from outer space, or bringing them from some place split sideways and shadowy, from a universe where the familiar is not as familiar as it might seem.'
— Joe.R.Lansdale.

LIBRARY JOURNAL review for ISIS UNBOUND:

"Generations ago, Cleopatra, with the blessing of Isis and Anthony at her side, started an empire. Her descendants still rule, but the goddess Isis has fallen silent, and there are those who fear her favor has been lost and the empire is falling apart. It is not that Isis has forgotten her empire, but she has been killed by her sister, the goddess Nepythys. Now the dead cannot pass over and stumble restless and frightened through a city already oppressed by plague and tyranny. The Chief Embalmer’s daughters, Ella and Loli, get involved in the machinations of the gods themselves as the fate of an empire is decided. VERDICT Set in a declining Egyptian empire dusted with the familiar technological and scientific trappings of a steampunk setting, this debut novel by British Fantasy Award winner Bird (Bull Running for Girls) is a frightening, gorgeous book that breathes something fascinating and new into the genre. It will appeal to avid readers of steampunk as well as horror fans." — April Steenburgh, George F. Johnson Memorial Lib., Endwell NY.

About the author

Allyson Bird lives on the edge of the South Yorkshire moors in England, with her husband and young daughter. Occasionally she is drawn to strange places and people and they are occasionally drawn to her. Her favourite playground, as a child and adult, has been the village graveyard. Once she wondered what would happen if she took one of the green stones from a grave. She has been looking over her shoulder ever since but has never given it back.

Allyson Bird won the British Fantasy award for her collection Bull Running for Girls.

At age 36, Ben Fall is a man in torment. Overstressed, out of shape, in the middle of a bitter divorce, and carrying a secret that weighs heavily on his psyche, he's convinced he's a failure. He can hardly get out of bed in the morning to make his way to the high school where he teaches English. But suddenly one gray afternoon, a mousy, nondescript new girl appears in his classroom. She seems fascinated by everything he says and does--disturbingly so. Yet, though she gazes obsessively at him and hangs on his every word, she won't even tell him her name...just that she's "The Rain Girl." Who is she? Where does she come from? What does she want?

And why does no one seem to see her but him?

The answers Ben finds will prove heartbreaking...and horrifying.

"We could call this book a 'contemporary metaphysical mystery' or a 'modern fantasy,' but it's far more...Lullaby for the Rain Girl resonates like the Expat Paris of Hemingway in A Moveable Feast and the 1960s College Crazy of Richard Farina's Been Down So Long Looks Like Up To Me: detailed recall of 'what was' interwoven with 'what should have been.' There's a rough 20th century romanticism, too, something like Richard Matheson's sensibility filtered through Henry Miller's libidinous viewpoint. It gives us the hauntings of not-quite-ghosts, lingering regrets and remembrances, and the documentation of the results of not so wise but always human choices. It is one hell of a story told by one hell of a writer, a novel that feels more evocatively true than many memoirs."
- Mort Castle, author of Moon on the Water and The Strangers

"This powerful novel is both innovative and a fine example of world-class storytelling: it's about life and the restless shadows it casts; it's about death and ghosts who aren't ghosts. Gripping, nuanced, and deep, Conlon's novel delivers."
- John Shirley, author of Bleak History and In Extremis

About the author

Christopher Conlon is a writer, poet, and editor best known for his first novel, Midnight on Mourn Street (Stoker Award finalist, 2009), and his Richard Matheson tribute anthology He Is Legend (Stoker Award winner, 2010). His other titles include A Matrix of Angels (novel), Starkweather Dreams (poetry), and Poe's Lighthouse (anthology). A former Peace Corps Volunteer, Conlon holds an M.A. in American Literature and now resides in Silver Spring, Maryland, with his wife and cats.

At 2:31 a.m., seismic monitoring stations in China and South Korea detect a magnitude-4 event consistent with a nuclear detonation in the southeastern corner of North Korea, within the Korean Demilitarized Zone. With the threat of full-scale war escalating by the minute, the United Nations Security Council dispatches an elite unit of peacekeepers to cross the border, penetrate the cloud of dust hanging over the site, and determine the exact nature of the seismic disturbance. What they find triggers a series of events that culminates in a civilian biomedical engineer boarding a transport carrier at Ft. Detrick, Maryland, bound for the Far East.

His name is Dr. Parker Ramsey and he is uniquely qualified for this mission.

He is the brains behind a secret project--Code Name Hindsight--developed under the oversight of the United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. Hindsight has never been field-tested, but with global catastrophe looming on the horizon, the only chance of averting it lies in utilizing the project's extraordinary capabilities. If it works, Dr. Ramsey will be able to unravel the mystery behind the detonation and identify the responsible party.

For, thanks to Hindsight, Dr. Ramsey will be able to see something that no one has ever seen before...

He'll be able to see the moment of death through the eyes of the dead.

If he's able to survive long enough to do so.

"Writing with the soul of a poet and the imagination of a demon, Michael McBride creates terrifying enchantments."
- Bruce Boston, author of The Nightmare Collection

"McBride just keeps getting better!"
- Hellnotes

"Whether he's writing stuff that's quietly creepy or stuff that's action-packed and blood-drenched, Michael McBride never fails to deliver a fantastic read!"
- Jeff Strand, author of Dweller and Pressure

"Make no mistake, Michael McBride is now ready to step in with the heavy hitters. Jeffery Deaver, Michael Marshall Smith, Thomas Harris--are you doing your roadwork?"
- Gene O'Neill, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Taste of Tenderloin

In the dead of night, there are footsteps in the hall . . .
In the dead of night, your past mistakes will haunt you . . .
In the dead of night, you hear a discordant tune . . .
In the dead of night, the nightingale sings . . .

Simon Strantzas, master of the subtle and the bizarre, returns with a dozen strange tales and eerie mysteries. From the shores of a remote oil-stained sound to deep within the familiar heart of suburbia, these are the songs of broken people who cannot find a way to fix themselves, who must search the dark for salvation. Like a siren, the nightingale sings them onward to face their end. But it sings for you too. A requiem in your honor. Because, for you, it is already too late.

"Nightingale Songs is a dark gem. Strantzas demonstrates once again why he is so highly regarded amongst connoisseurs of the macabre and the fantastic."
- Laird Barron

"Simon Strantzas displays a gift for evoking disturbing atmospheres and creating odd, frightening encounters with the uncanny . . . "
- Lisa Tuttle

"He does not show you the gate to this new Golden Age of weird fiction that is upon us, but leads you through it."
- Joseph S. Pulver

"Strantzas deftly establishes ordinary and seemingly innocuous situations that spin out of the characters' control and always end with an uneasy sense of menace, even when their resolution is ambiguous or cryptic."
- Publishers Weekly

"Like the subtly disquieting locations in which they take place—a suburban house obscured by weeds and dark butterflies, the basement of a former home grown suddenly unfamiliar, a sleep clinic where the patients never meet—Simon Strantzas’ elegant stories worry at the reader’s sense of certainty. The songs they sing won’t comfort you. But you will remember them."
- Glen Hirshberg

About the author

Simon Strantzas is the author of the critically-acclaimed Cold to the Touch (Tartarus Press, 2009), a collection of thirteen tales of the strange and supernatural. His first collection, Beneath the Surface (reprinted by Dark Regions Press, 2010), has been called "one of the most important debut short story collections in the genre". Strantzas's stories have appeared in The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror, Cemetery Dance, and Postscripts. In 2009, his work was nominated for the British Fantasy Award for Best Short Fiction. He lives in Toronto, Canada, with his wife and an unyielding hunger for the flesh of the living. For more information, please visit http://www.strantzas.com

Sherlock Holmes: Revenant

A strange sickness affecting the members of the House of Lords starts a new adventure for Holmes and Watson, one that will see them on the run, accused of murder and pursued by both the police and a deadly gang of assassins.

The case takes them up and down the country, from Scotland to the Houses of Parliament and leads them down arcane paths, following their relentless foe in pursuit of the lost secret of immortality.

Their adversary seems hell-bent, not only on their destruction but on an act of terrorism that will shake London to its foundations.

Holmes must catch and unmask the revenant, and only by confronting his own past will he be able to prevail.

The Invasion

It started during a winter storm on the North Eastern Seaboard which brought with it a strange green rain. Where it fell, everything withered, died, and was consumed. The residents of remote outposts in Maritime Canada escaped the worst of the early damage, but that was a blessing in disguise, for they were left to watch as first North America, then the world, was subsumed in the creeping green carpet of terror.

And that was just the beginning. New life forms began to arise from the ooze, simple organisms at first, but multiplying with ever-increasing complexity. The few human survivors are faced with a full-scale invasion... and only radical measures will guarantee the survival of the human race.

"If you're on the fence with this one, then climb down and give it a shot. The Invasion is great 50's B-Movie fun and comes highly recommended."
- Horror World

The Valley

In 1863, a group of mercenaries are hired to help out a mining town in Montana. They arrive to find the town empty and some of the buildings wrecked and strewn over a wide area. A new cave leads them to a land that time forgot, a high valley full of animals that are extinct elsewhere, but have thrived in the remote environment. But something else is loose in the land, something even older that has emerged from the cave system.

Soon the remaining men are fighting for their lives, and the lives of everything in the valley.

"This is pure pulp fiction goodness."
- The Man-Eating Bookworm
