How were the divers eaten?

The first diver (Hootie) was attacked (3:20) when the shark bit into him sideways near the hips. We next see his legs struggling and dangling from the sharks mouth. If he was attacked in such a way, how could he be eaten? All the bones would have to be broken and his back broken — quite literally he would be folded and eaten. How could he be eaten?

The second diver (Pierson) was almost at the boat when he was attacked (4:26). Which part of him did the shark get? In the next scene we only see his head and right hand without diving equipment. Is his entire body inside the shark or what? Again, how was he eaten?
