I've always love "The Mummy" The bog set design was the most beautifuly bizarre and highly tactile environment in a horror flick this side of Eraserhead.

The way the mud and goo clung to the bandages. Brilliant.

Yeah I have got to agree - the Mummy is an amazing looking film.

Most of the Frankenstein efforts weren't especially cool, but Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell is a good one. I'm with everyone on Horror of Dracula, but hold the probably controversial opinion that Satanic Rites of Dracula was incredible. It's nice how it doesn't take itself quite as seriously as many other Hammer efforts do. The camp level makes it a pretty unique Dracula experience. Though I'd say the only Hammer Dracula that wasn't all that great was Dracula AD 1972.

I really like the movie Vampire Circus, but also Curse of the Werewolf because it was the first one I saw.

My favourite has to be Quatermass and the pit, but I'm still undecided on whether the Hammer film or the BBC TV serial is the best adaption. Second to that it's probably The creeping flesh.

I also love Twins of evil purely on cotton nightie appreciation.
Which reminds me, I still haven't got Twins and it's out on DVD now...

When I was a child in the 60's (yes, you read that correctly) we had a neighborhood theatre just a few blocks away (ah for the days of neighborhood theatres...). Every weekend I'd take my $1.25 down to the theatre for the weekend matinee. There would always be a double feature along with cartoons, newsreels, serials & prize giveaways.

The theatre owner knew what kids liked and often the double features would be Hammer horrors, or a Corman pair up, or even times a couple weird AIP releases. Getting to see those glorius movies on a big screen was a great education in film. My favorites were the Hammer films Cushing & Lee were dynamite together. As so many have said in this thread already- it's impossible to pick a favorite one. Like Universal & Corman they created their own world.

Great movies. Great entertainment. Great memories.

I heard a while back that they were going to start again, this was about two years ago, Hammer films was bought out by a group of businessmen, who as far as I know are connected to the film industry. Here's the website http://www.hammerfilms.com

The first horror film i saw was Dracula, Prince of Darkness.
Some of my faves are: The Mummy, Curse of Frankenstein and Twins of Evil.
