My Hammer sculptures

Hi. Last time I was here I was asking about photos for a sculpture I was going to do. This was 2010!
I was asking about Twins of Evil photo reference for a sculpture. Well I havent done a TofE sculpture yet-but I did do some other Hammer themed sculptures.

Here's what I have been doing.

A screaming Dracula (I do a blank face portrait first and then alter it into the expression)

Michael Ripper

Just completed a new Peter Cushing (couldnt get the likeness right)

Patrick Troughton (will eventually be a Klove and Rat Catcher)

I also make a copy for my "wall of faces."

More to come (hopefully it will be a lot sooner than 6 years).

Watch the sizing on your photos, please

How do I resize them?
I just link them from another site sinc ethat is what the image tags tell me to do.

Oh I get it--the way it scrolls to the side. lol Yeah sorry about that. Making picture collages at 2 am is never good idea. Fixed.

Impaled Dracula updated. This is my favorite of the bunch so far.
I have to redo a couple of Peter Cushing figures I did.

How do you choose your subjects and do you sell your work? Not that I could possibly afford it but you really should if you're already not. You have a real talent! 8)

Kelg 11-07-2016 10:02 AM

Thanks.
I choose them based on a whim for the most part, but then I have to get the right reference photos.
I wanted to do Twins of Evil because I had not seen one and thought it a good challenge, however I ended up doing Cushing and Lee heads first. But then I wasn't satisfied with them so I did them again. And again.
Then I did Michael Ripper just as a spur of the moment thing. I wanted to do a Patrick Troughton head for myself. Now I have finally started a Twins of Evil.

I have sold a couple heads through Facebook and Ebay.
I had a lot of positive feedback for the Michael Ripper but have only sold one.

Don't make much money at this point.

I did get a commission after someone saw the Ratcatcher-but they want a 1/6th scale head of a modern movie character.

These are resculpted and repainted heads.

Wasn't happy with the previous Cushing and Lee faces.

You never thought you'd see me again
eh Svengali?

I am still doing Hammer sculptures.
In fact, I made a video of the ones I have done (including some early statues that are unrelated).

I think I choose subjects based on obscurity.
I really wanted to do the Ratcatcher and the Twins of Evil--but I was doing the Cushing head mainly to test out my skills.
I started using Monster Clay and I was doing digital stuff--I did a digital version of Ursula Andress from SHE but that's the only one I would try printing.
I prefer working with clay.
