Writing a novel

I've been writing semi-stories for years now. Basically starting one and then never bothered to finish so I'm not really an author at this point. But lately I've been really wanting to write something I have never done before - A zombie fiction novel and I'm basically doing this on a blog (though not open for public quite yet).

I have the storyline in my head, I've been mind-mapping and getting to know my characters and even reading books about writing and horror novels but it would be nice if I could get some advice on writing and how to make a story interesting. I don't care if you write yourself or if you really just like reading horror lit but yeah, some ideas or advice would be nice :) - And could one ask for a better place to be asking this than in a horror-loving forum?
