Real Horror

For me real horror fiction is written by Ramsey Campbell, Robert Aickman, Thomas Ligotti and M.R James.

I like Stephen King but I don't find it scary. It's more dark supernatural adventure.

Oddly, I've never heard of any of these authors. What books would you suggest by them?

Ramsey Campbell's best books are INCARNATE, SEVEN DAYS OF CAIN, MIDNIGHT SUN, THE LAST VOICE THEY HEAR. But any of them has some quality to it.
His best short stories are in DARK FEASTS.

Aickman? anything. He only wrote short stories. His best is THE HOSPICE. Same with Liggoti; anything.

M.R James: anything. All good.
