Who Here Writes Horror?
I've written three complete screenplays (one short film and two features). The short film screenplay was made into a short film in college but the two feature screenplays were never made. I tried sending out several cover letters for the one feature screenplay to writing agencies but they never got back to me. The second feature-length screenplay I tried making into a film myself but I couldn't get anyone to help me with it and it was way too extravagant of a screenplay to make by myself.
I always wanted to be a horror author, so I've gone back to that original goal for myself. I'm currently working on two books, a novel and an omnibus of stories. I am thinking of going back to the three screenplays I've written and novelizing them, expanding the stories. Who here writes horror and what type of horror do you like to write about, if you don't mind me asking? You don't have to tell me your plot ideas or characters if you are not comfortable doing so. |
We have 3 that don't come around anymore: RoderickUsher (Sean Keller), Doc Faustus (Garrett Cook), and neverending (Lee Widener).

JakeAshworth has shared some terrific stuff that he's written.
There's also a few people here who write really solid film reviews, horcrux being particularly good. |
I have 3 published novels and another im fixing up before sending to Deadite Press

I hope RoderickUsher, Doc Faustus, and neverending are doing well for themselves as writers. Art of any kind is a long arduous road. Do they self-publish or submit their work through publishing companies? I'm considering self-publishing because it gives me more control over the finished product. Yeah, it will take more ingenuity and hard work on my part, but I've struggled this long with my art. I can struggle some more. Quote:
What kind of stuff does JakeAshworth write? Reviews, short stories, etc? Quote:
I usually write satiric horror or serial killer horror, but I'm trying to branch out into monster fiction and science fiction as well. Horror will always be my passion. I have three screenplays under my belt, but no published works of fiction. I need to get myself into gear. I checked out Deadite Press' website. They look pretty freaking cool. I didn't know they existed. I've heard from various authors that you get a lot of rejection letters through publishing companies. How did you find Deadite Press? |

Thanks DreamWarrior. I write about a lot of different things. My first novel Harold's Ghosts (Hated that title, was calles Hidden but they made me change it) was a ghost story. I got it published at this horrible place PublishAmerica, didnt know any better. Im not proud of that one. I rushed through it, didn't really do any rewrites and only really did it to see if i could.
My second, Jeremiah, is about a serial killer. Same publisher but proud of that one. My third, Eddie, is about an alien. I self published that but i was still pretty green about formats so it came out all weird. Im proud of the story though. The one im working on now, Big Nasty, is about a Troll. This is my best work yet. Been working on it quite awhile. I learned about Deadite through my editor, the aforementioned Doc Faustus. He has a book through them and pitched it to them after going over my book. Just hope theyre still interested by the time i finish. |

I Do
I write horror, published author, but I don't know if it's allowed to advertise my horror books in here, since I'm new here and all. I'm still learning the ropes. If it's allowed let me know and I'll post up a link.
I will say this, I'm a graphic story teller who does not hold back from being absolutely gruesome, giving readers that cringe feeling, nightmarish vomit inducing splatter fest, while keeping an interesting story plot, with real to life characters. Basically my style of writing is what I'd like to see in horror movies. The real stuff. Hard core, blood-o-graphic gore-fest built with characters that appear just like you and me. Real! ::smile:: |
I have more luck writing mysteries. Serial Killer can vouch for that. But an occasional horror story idea is written down now and then.

My latest horror novel Fear Inducer is all about a psychiatrist preying on his patients phobias. Using them to kill themselves. He doesn't lay a single hand on them, yet they all die in horrific, horrifying explicit ways. Dr Bloom is trusted by the public, his patients and has won two Nobel Prizes. He is cunning, a mastermind at what he does. No one can catch him...but he will catch you! One...Two...Dr Bloom's coming for you! He will find you! I got so bored with movies and other books that I wrote what I wanted. Actually it is the whole reason I write, to get more from the standard rubbish in movies. What I write is utterly gruesome, not for the faint of heart, and apart from the explicit graphic deaths the characters are life like and pull you in, so you feel a part of the story. I’ve been told that if Stephen King and Quentin Tarantino had a love child that it was me. I am so confident in my stories that I’m happy to gift to you my latest novel. Send me a msg and I’ll get that done today for you :) and yes I self publish.::stick out tongue:: |

I've written a young adult zombie series (self published), 3 novels, fourth in the works. I toned that one down to be more PG13, or at least I tried to.
My very first novel (not the best written) is a monster story; a young man slowly realizes he's not really human , while his hometown is assaulted by the supernatural. And I wrote a bunch of short stories. I mostly write horror, fantasy, and sci-fi. I tried to write erotica once, half way into a novel, it turned dark, and gritty, so never finished that one. |

My zombie story, book one is free.

My first novel. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....sL._SY346_.jpg https://www.amazon.com/Undead-Finitu.../dp/1490935630 |
I do.
I only recently decided to start putting my work out on kindle. I was always kind of weird with self-publishing, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to see what it;s like.
I have put out one novella called Death Room, two short stories called Swimmer and Backwood Babies, and also have put out a paperback edition of Backwood Babies, which includes Swimmer and another story by the name of Dead Centre. If anyone wants to check them out then please leave an honest review. They are free for Kindle Unlimited users, and Death Room is free in its entirety until the paperback edition is out. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Death-Room-...rds=r.p.+healy https://www.amazon.co.uk/Backwood-Ba...rds=r.p.+healy https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/15217906...rds=r.p.+healy |

I have written a zombie trilogy and two screenplays.
The trilogy was published by Severed Press. Be good for the screenplay to be snapped up ::smile:: I don't know if amazon links are allowed so here is the cover of the first book |
I have wrote two short stories in the horror genre.
Honestly I joined because I wanted to share them and see what people think about them. They are not extremely unique or original but they spooked some of my friends :D I write a lot of stuff but more towards the fantasy/sci-fi genre. I should post the two stories here and see what people have to say about them. I would have post them here actually but they are not online. I have them on .doc files and not sure if I can put that in here. But I would love to have honest reviews and some building criticism if anyone is willing to do so. |
I write horror!
I mostly write non-supernatural fiction, but with implied supernatural elements, so it's structured on that sense of ambiguity as to whether or not something spooky is actually going on, without ever really spelling it out. I've been doing the self-publishing thing on Amazon and a few other sites for a few years now. You can check out my stuff here: http://jimjohanson.com I just put out a 12k word short story called The Hill of Flies and Naked Corpses (attention grabbing title?). Would be great if I was able to find a small publisher to get some of my stuff into paperback. Looking for recommendations if you have any. |
