New Horror Avatars Now Available

I know that most of you longtime members have created your own custom avatars, but for those newer users who haven't had the time, we've added some new default avatars that you can select from your user control panel.

These new avatars are cute horror icons - you can see them by checking the new "Cute Scary Avatars" category in the "Edit Avatar" section of your control panel.

Enjoy!

Cute & Horror should not be uttered in the same sentence.

We need you to increase the file size for avatars, Mr.Horror!!:o

The forum upgrade to the newest vBulletin version should fix that. Horror might change avatar specs after that big upgrade is safely completed.

So what other changes can we expect? Will they be drastic? Will it be made easier to post pictures?

The basic plan is to start with this upgrade of the main site "engine", then look at a redesign, latest forum version, and additional community features for the site. We have a number of features in mind, but we are totally open to suggestions if you have any.

As far as the picture posting - what needs to be done to make it easier?

_____V_____ 02-03-2009 05:03 AM

- Attachments in posts have been disabled. Enabling them again would be a big help.

- Also, the latest version of IE asks for script prompts when a link or an image is to be inserted into a post.

"This website is using a scripted window to ask you for information. If you trust this website, click here to allow scripted windows..."

That is annoying. Maybe the upgrade will disable it.

Yeah, photo attachments were disabled during the last upgrades over 2 years ago...We all had to get photobucket accounts at that time, and have been hosting our images ever since.

I'm still waiting on those color changes, btw ;)

_____V_____ 02-03-2009 05:52 AM

Black with red shades? No chance.

Horror loves grey.

Definitely, maybe. If he is inspired by your signature.

I can think of a possible 250 distractions. But lets not go into that. ;)

One little 3 year-old distraction is enough to throw me off, but he finally fell asleep about an hour ago...That's how I was able to sit down and do my taxes :)

We're chatting up this thread :p

I'm gonna hit you on Yahoo :)

GAH!!!...I STILL use too many smileys

OH!...Horror...Can we have some new smileys?...Please? :D

Is there any easier way of posting pics other than BB codes or HTML inserted into a post?

I am still in favor of attachments. Best and the quickest.

Posher778 02-03-2009 07:23 AM

I enjoy the grey. It's simple, easy to rwad, not monotonous like the rest of the horror boards.

ferretchucker 02-03-2009 07:30 AM

-I'm pretty happy with the color scheme. The simplicity doesn't come across as pompous or cliché.

-As far as picture posting, what V said was pretty much accurate.

-Also, maybe make the search tool a bit easier, a lot of new members could benefit from it if they don't know the special way to do it. That is, you have to right click and open in a new window. It would save a few pointless threads.

-Are you gonna stick around? Apparently you used to regularly post here.

normally everything (including attachments & avatars) are stored in the database, no doubt attachments were disabled to help keep the database size down (also probably why avatar size had been limited).

people should be happy that avatar size has been increased.

with the last upgrade, the index seemed to have been truncated (or corrupted), as such no posts before the upgrade would appear in search results.

hopefully this won't happen again, though i wouldn't hold out for this being fixed.
