But make sure they sit too close to the TV, it's bad for their eyes! Taking your children through the TV.... symbolism?

Roiffalo 09-03-2017 01:20 PM

BloodRaptor and I will be watching Poltergeist tonight. It's one of my favorites so I'm pretty stoked to find out what he thinks. ::cool::

My oldest daughter would probably love it but the others would probably be too scared

For those trying to keep up, feel free to watch the movies at your own pace. It usually takes me more then one day to finish a movie. The joys of having children.

UPDATE

Due to not being able to find a way to watch Invaders From Mars, i will be changing it to....

THOUGHTS ON POLTERGEIST

Definitly one of, if not the best, haunted house movie ever made. The Changeling and The Haunting (The original) are strong competition though. I must have seen this movie twenty or more times by now and i never get tired of watching it. The characters are well done and seem real and you really care about them as the movie goes on especially little Carol Anne.

The suspense is great slowly building up instead of forcing its way into every scene. (See the Remake for this)

It doesn't try to hard yet is filled with different unique scares and is probably the reason why i love the fake out ending where you think everything is going to be okay and of course it's not.

If you haven't seen this yet, you really need to.

Easily one of the best horror films of all-time. The clown scene is still one of the scariest scenes.

Likely one of the few times two directors (Hooper/Spielberg) came together like chocolate and peanut butter. It totally worked.

What do you all think of the (possible) background symbolism? The evil force comes from the TV to seduce and take your children... Not literally take your child, take their mind/soul... They put the TV out at the end...

I didn't really see that symbolism. They didn't suck her through the TV. They sucked her through the closet and they didn't seduce her through the TV either. Id say that was true if they had convinced her to walk into the closet after making friends with her but they took her by force. The TV was just a means of communication due to the white noise from the television. So I don't really see that symbolism and putting the TV out at the end I just saw as a joke. Its not like that's what caused it

THOUGHTS ON TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE

The first time i watched this i was working at Hollywood Video on a bright sunny day with a large window in front of me displaying plenty of sunlight. It was a slow day and i was alone so i decided to watch this on the small TV/VCR combo that sat on the counter.

Despite the small screen, VHS quality and bright sunny day it still freaked me out. I still find this movie disturbing and gritty. It feels like you're really watching the events unfold instead of watching a movie.

It's an excellent classic and should be viewed by all horror fans.

Join me as i watch The Innocents, The Changeling, and The Uninvited

Repo'd 09-24-2017 08:28 AM

Finally had a chance to watch something from your list, Villain. Work has been a little time consuming lately.
So, I watched The Innocents this morning. It's a title that was on my watch list for ages but I didn't see it until sometime last year. Naturally, I fell in love with every frame of this masterpiece.
This viewing was my fourth, and the thing that always stands out above all the other highlights, is the performance by Deborah Kerr. She is utterly convincing in her role and that contributes greatly to the movie's quality and believability. It's one of the best acting jobs I've EVER seen in a fright flick.

So glad I’m not too tragically late to this thread.

Love this idea, Villian. I usually do just Oct 1-Oct 31 myself but I love the idea of including Sept as well...gives Halloween the time it deserves ::devil::

Can’t wait to see what you are watching for this week ::danger::
