Help please

I remember watching a horror movie as a kid and cant remember it. It was set in an old school. A child drowned in the pond, tangled in weeds. A couple are staying there and the child wants to kill them. They can hear the ghost of the child chopping one of the legs of the jeti over the pond each night but dont know what the noise is. At the end of the film, the man walks on to the jeti, it breaks and he falls in and drowns. The ghost of the child then heads to kill the woman. I think the child wanted to kill them because the man sits at the child's desk at some point in the film, not showing any respect. I am pretty sure it was a british film, late 80's or early 90's. Please help me work out what it was. Thanks

The ghost of the child chopped one the legs of the dock (jeti) off, because the man sat at ghost-child's desk without showing respect. British aren't capable of conceiving of this scenario.

i'm british, haven't you seen the sureeal odd rubbish we are capable of producing! In response to your enquiry is it an old film, color, black and white, and what decade was it made in?

Not that it matters anymore, but it might be "Haunted" from 1995.
