Theatre of Blood and Gross Poodle Pie Scene

Amongst the grossest scenes I have ever seen in a horror movie, I would cite the poodle pie scene in Theatre of Blood (1973) as one of the most difficult and nauseating to watch. Those who have seen this movie will know all too well exactly what I mean!

If anybody has not seen this classic Vincent Price chiller, the notorious "poodle pie" scene to which I refer involves the Robert Morley character being force fed a pie which has been wickedly baked by the Price character . . . with the added ingredient of poor old Mr Morley's two pet poodles!

You know, I have seen some real disturbing movies in my time, but honestly, I STILL cannot bear to watch Theatre of Blood without grimacing inwardly every time that scene comes on! Theatre of Blood was, truly, way ahead of its time in evoking such horrific, gut-wrenching scenes.

Would be interested to read all other members' opinions of this classic movie and its notorious "poodle pie" scene.

Theatre of Blood is one of the rare movies that can really be categorized as both a horror and comedy. The poodle scene was one of many that made me laugh and squirm at the same time. And Vincent Price was the brilliant at playing Vincent Price.

This scene was great-based on King Lear, I think. But yes-love the whole film.

Wow, I love this movie, my favorite part is when Vincent Price kills is real life wive Coral Browne at the hair dressers, a really camp movie directed by Douglas Hickox whos entire family were movie makers, his wife edited Lawrence of Arabia and is sons brought us a few of the Hellraiser movies as well as The Children of the Corn films.

I totally agree. Vincent Price was one of the greatest actors ever.
