New Friday 13th Remake.....again

I just heard that on March 13th, 2015, Platium Dunes is making another Friday! Some of you may or may not know this, but it is rumored to be filmed as a Found Footage film..... I dont really know if that is true or not yet, but after all its still only rumors. Tell me what you think of the idea of a found footage Friday film. In my opinion, its gonna fail, miserably.

BloodSweatAndFears 06-13-2014 08:26 PM

Friday the 13th or Friday??

Jokes.. Haha and this actually sounds interesting, we all know found footage of ghost then of course VHS but the idea of a serial legend sounds kinda cool, makes it seem almost like a true story of Jason. It can fail though and most likely will but I'm still going to watch

filth 06-15-2014 05:03 AM

I didn't particularly like the most recent Friday the 13th (2009, if I remember correctly.) So, I reckon a completely new take, being the found footage could be quite refreshing for the franchise. Although, I feel it'll either great or fail miserable, no in between. If this is the direction they choose, I actually have quite a bit of faith in it, I'm holding onto hope that this will do F13 justice!

The Villain 06-15-2014 10:21 AM

I actually think a found footage Friday The 13th would be interesting. They've already done a lot of different tropes on that series like the psychic girl one, going to space, weird possession esque movie so why not a found footage.

If it was Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street I'd say not but found footage will work well with that franchise.

metternich1815 06-18-2014 01:10 PM

It sounds interesting. I will give it the benefit of the doubt, though I hated the 2009 reboot. Hopefully, this one will be better, if true. It may fail miserably on all counts, but I am open to them giving it a shot. I am a huge Friday the 13th fan, I own every single one ever made, including the reboot, and would even say it's my favorite horror franchise.

NightOfTheLiving_Sam 06-18-2014 01:54 PM

Sounds interesting. I wonder where they'll go with this one. =) I've seen a lot of Friday the 13th movies so I'm intrigued definitely.

oz_horror 09-04-2014 03:10 AM

The found footage aspect is at least something new to the franchise. Everything else has been done, and so if they had one last chance to make F13 cool again they may as throw caution to the wind and try something out there and new.

horcrux2007 09-04-2014 03:29 AM

I'd like a found footage Friday the 13th movie.

ImmortalSlasher 09-04-2014 09:39 AM

I would make a real Friday the 13th movie. No gimmicks. Too bad so many in Hollywood have a lack of creativity these days.

Say more, Jason fan: what is a "real" F13 film to you?

Another generic slasher flick.

Probably something comparable to the original Halloween in how timeless it is. Few if any stupid, completely unlikable teenagers. Police that are for the most part competent. The perfect moody summer night setting with realistic town atmosphere. I would probably split the Mother origin and years later with Jason story into two movies like Grindhouse. Or just make the Mother part an hour with the Jason part a bit longer. An hour and a half or so. I would take inspiration from my favorite ones like Part 2 and 6. But not forget the horror fans get it humor in others like Part 8 and X. I'm talking mostly the kills. I would just make a real slasher movie that would be taken seriously like Carpenter set out to do with Halloween I believe. At least he talked about Hitchcock a bit and there are references in Halloween.

That's more of what would make a good Friday the 13th movie. None of them are like what you described.

::big grin::

F13 does get it right, only it's a semi-collective effort. Take a chunk from each of the first THREE films, sprinkle in some of the humor of Jason Lives, and voila!

I'm talking about a complete movie, not cherry-picking the parts that do work.

It makes me angry to think that the F13 remake cherry-picked and still couldn't get it right.

Can't argue with that.

You're right. I misread and got ahead of myself. Only Part 6 to me is a real good Friday the 13th movie. I like Part 2 but I think the hockey mask is just iconic. And Part 2 has some really questionable elements with stupid kids, dumb cop and story, etc.

But I did come up with a good idea for a Friday the 13th movie. Something that could make the setting and movie's story realistic for sequels too. It hasn't been tried before either. I'm going to keep it to myself though. I like it and want to think about it a bit more.

Jason porn?

Which will hit first the F13 movie or the tv series? I'm amped for the tv adaptation.

themidnightpeople 09-26-2014 03:23 PM

I think a found footage F13 could be cool. I'd be interested to see how they take on a slasher film using found footage, since I don't recall ever really seeing that. Could be pretty interesting. Will probably be disappointing, but you never know.

Nope. There was a post on the HorrorDVDs forum about porn horror parody movies. I was surprised that there are so many. They can't be good. I just watched Axeman which feels like a porn horror movie at times. But I wouldn't know I've never seen one. It's like what Leno said once, who watches a full porn movie?

No this is something that hasn't been used in Friday the 13th movies. Maybe not any horror movie before. But there are so many I can't be sure.

This.

The found footage is nothing new and only in last couple of years it has been used so many times as an excuse for making bad movies. I just think the whole found footage thing wouldnt work with characters like Jason or Michael Myers.. but we`ll see.

120DaysofSodom 10-06-2014 05:20 PM

I wish they would just stop remaking everything. Plenty of fresh ideas out there.

horcrux2007 10-06-2014 05:21 PM

I think remakes have been kinda quiet in the last five years. Supernatural movies and found footage movies are all the rage now.

Id like to see more films come out about space exploration, so long as theyre not ripping off Alien. Loved the scene in Pandorum where the guy awakes from his slumber only to be eaten by one of the space pirates.

It's not really a spoiler. It's just a spontaneous thing that happens in the movie.

It is going to fail, because I won't watch it if it is a found footage. I am tired of the shaky camera crap. About the same annoyance as watching a movie with captions. Books are books, and movies are movies, and should stay that way. Never mix them up with having captions. If they are from another country, then that is just too bad, because I won't watch with captions either.

Anyway, I think a baby can hold a camera better than the people doing found footage movies.

horcrux2007 10-17-2014 03:26 AM

Is reading that difficult for you?

ImmortalSlasher 02-18-2015 06:12 PM

Apparently they might try to give a reason to why Jason keeps coming back movie after movie. That's a bad idea to me. I saw these movies when I was young and always assumed it was like a legend or warning. If you do something wrong this might happen. And when it does, even in the end you aren't sure of how or why. Sort of like the end of Friday the 13th Part 2. I never understood what happened at the end. We are left with confusion. Also in Halloween, one of the best horror movies ever, Myers is the boogeyman at the end. That's what he becomes. He takes all sorts of damage that would kill an ordinary person. All you need to do is look what happened after Halloween and how the series went downhill with the exception of Halloween 3. Which I like and think that's how the series should be. But again at the end, we don't know what happened.

In Friday the 13th Part 6, a movie that I like, they basically start the resurrection and confirm the supernatural Jason. Of course no one that's dead can be resurrected from a lightning bolt. And I really don't want Crystal Lake or some part of it to be the Fountain of Youth. Nor should Mrs. Voorhees be some sort of witch. It should just be the unknown. A fireside tale of what might happen in a certain area and it does when kids push their luck.

I hated the remake's dope farm protecting Jason. The Jason that lived in tunnels with power and held captives. The people of the area that actually knew about Jason and did nothing about it. That even allowed other people to build large homes in Jason's area. All for realism the story made zero sense. It seems like they will continue to ruin the legend of Jason by giving reasons and explanations for stuff.

Jake.Ashworth 02-20-2015 09:24 PM

I havent heard anything of found footage but the most recent F13th news says they are going to base it in the 80's which would me me a happy camper (pun intended). They are also talking about a series. And most awesome of all a next gen game, 5 player controlled campers vs. 1 player controlled Jason. That sounds like a blast.

Jason died before Pt. 1, so he's always been supernatural.

Friday 13th Remake Part II

Somebody knows something about this movie?I heard rumors that will take place during winter.Somebody says it will be found footage. What you think about all that?

Jake.Ashworth 03-03-2015 05:01 AM

So far I have only heard a bit. I heard that it would be based in the 80's to give it a classic slasher vibe. I haven't heard anything about found footage. It was initially due in November this year but has been moved back until November next year. Now, what I think is even more intriguing is the series and game they are talking about. The series they are saying is going to start when Jason was a child and follow him through camp and his death. Then it will start to delve into modern day Camp Crystal Lake. The game is going to be a multiplayer with five players taking control of campers and one player taking control of Jason. Its a hunt or hunted type of multiplayer.

Jason X 03-04-2015 04:47 AM

I cant wait for both.

Amalthea_unicorn 03-05-2015 02:09 AM

That sounds good.

That's what I think too. But people like the more "human" Jason before part 6. The one that ran after people and other stuff.
