Tales From the Crypt

Tales from the Crypt = greatest horror show ever? I think so. Give me your thoughts. What's your favorite episode? Mine is the one where Tim Roth is a painter who is lacking inspiration. So he kills people and paints their final moments. He begins selling them for a pretty penny and falls in love at the same time. When his love interest finds out what he's been up to she runs from him and gets hit by a car. He takes her to the hospital but there is only one surgeon who can perform the complicated surgery and he's on his way to the hospital. The only problem is he costs a ton of money. So Roth rushes out and kills the first person he sees and paints the picture to sell it. He makes the money and gets back to the hospital. But it turns out the special doctor who was being brought in was the poor guy he murdered just hours before. Great stuff.

You mean Bordello of Blood, with the hot vampire chicks.

Vampyra 10-06-2003 06:28 AM

My fave has Wil Weaton(however you spell his last name the guy from Star Trek the Next Generation) It deals with a Frat house and they make nerds mainly do all theses nasty things to get in the frat house. They take them to this house which they say is haunted but it is really the frat guys hiding in it. And whoever wins gets $100.00. And this sexy girl Mona is there. Little did they know Mona and her girls were Ghouls and killed the lead cocky guy of the frat.
Another one is where this killer escapes from a jail or nut house I can't remember which. But it takes place around Christmas. This lady kills her B/F and shoves him in a snow bank. Meanwhile her daughter sees the killer dressed like Santa and lets him inside the house. And the lady is too afraid of getting caught for killing her b/f that even though the killer is in the house she won't call the cops.
I love that show..I can go on...lol

avenger00soul 10-06-2003 06:35 AM

Those would be "House of Horror" and "And All Through the House." Great episodes. I too LOVE that show.

Sick_As_Fuck 10-12-2003 02:33 AM

I'd say it's for sure the greatest horror show ever. I also used to watch Monsters, Tales From The Dark Side, and The Hitchhiker. All classics.

Tales From the Darkside and Monsters were either hit or miss but still fun to watch. I love both of their opening sequences. I never watched an episode of the Hitchhiker that I dug though.

Killer Clown#1 10-12-2003 07:13 AM

I used to watch the cartoon all of the time. I loved it:D

avenger00soul 10-12-2003 07:44 AM

The cartoon was great too. We need these things on DVD.

Killer Clown#1 10-12-2003 08:46 AM

My favorite cartoon episode was the one where that kid is in the museum and the statues come to life and the one where they go into medussa's tomb(the girl with snakes in her hair). I used to watch these shows at my baby sitters house, good thing she made me watch horror movies or I would not be into them now.:)

Killer Clown#1 10-12-2003 08:49 AM

I use to collect the crypt kepper action figures also. Good times:cool:

avenger00soul 10-12-2003 09:11 AM

I got all the action figures from KB toys. They were only like a buck each cuz they weren't selling.

Yeah, the openings were really good. But no opening in the history of televsion shows, except maybe the Simpsons, rivals the opening of Tales From The Crypt. I love it.

nightbreed 10-14-2003 11:15 AM

jeez...

i dont know if I have a favorite, so many awesome episodes... I was given this Book for X-mas many years ago that is the definative tales from the crypt guide. it includes the history of EC comics, an episode guide, special effects, everything. Its a rad book, hardcover so its pretty expensive.

Blizz 10-14-2003 03:18 PM

I love the show, it is still on in my area sometimes.

One episode sticks out in my mind where some guy gets caught cheating with some guy's wife, then they stick him in a tree and chainsaw him in half while he is in the middle of the tree. That ruled.

thehalk 10-14-2003 06:26 PM

the one that sticks out to me is the one where they still so guys kid then he tryes to get the kidd back then the bet him to deth with bats

Split Second--Great episode.

Sick_As_Fuck 10-16-2003 02:29 PM

Speaking of episodes that stick out I definitely agree the person that mentioned the one about the fraternity. That one was awesome. Another one off the top of my dome is where the guy has like 9 lives, so he does these incredible stunts and makes a lot of money off of 'em. However, he loses track of his lives and buries himself alive, where he eventually dies. That one was cool.

That one was called Dig That Cat, He's Real Gone and starred Joe Pantoliano I believe.

Samara 10-18-2003 06:55 PM

I love that show! But what I love most about it is the song at the begining, I love that song so much that I downloaded it but I need to re-download it because it doesn't sound right without the Crypt Keepers laugh.:p

allmykids 11-15-2003 08:17 PM

They were rumored to have made a third film under the banner but something happened. The film was released as Ritual, but not many people have even heard of it. Needless to say, they dropped the Tales From the Crypt off of the title.

FangoFan 11-17-2003 03:22 PM

I agree it's the greatest horror show ever.
I have thought they should bring it back.

The painter Episode was titled 'Eisel Kill Ya'
I believe.

I liked the Beau Bridges episode
Where it ends up being a prank.

Yes, it was Easel Kill Ya. The Bridges episode was Abra Cadaver.

Arioch 11-20-2003 04:36 PM

THE best Tales from the Crypt episode is "the death of a salesman" staring Tim Curry. He plays a whole family (chainsaw massacre esk) he plays the daughter, the wife, and the husband, and hes creepy doing each. Ive only seen it once and try and have my vcr ready incase they play it again but they never do. Great Episode.

I also like the one with the werewolf thats hunting all these people in some retreat in the woods. Then a vampire catches him. Great stuff.

I tell this one to kids who aren't sure what the word "IRONY" means...It ALWAYS helps them to understand it...

One of my favorites is the one in which the basketball player dies and his cheap, mortician uncle saws off half of his legs so that he can fit into a cheap coffin...The nephew comes back and gets revenge...I don't really remember what it was called but, I'm sure avenger00soul will enlighten me...:D :D :D

Fitting Punishment is the title.:D

I thought it was too bad they had to "censor" their own episodes (i.e., leaving out the appropriate gore, profanity, etc.) toward the end because they knew it would go to syndication.

The last season sucked anyway. I call them the Euro-trash episodes.

crazy clown 11-25-2003 05:25 PM

my favorite episode was the christmas episode. especially the end where the pscho is holding the little girls hand in the middle of the room and smile at the mom who starts screaming. i believe that, that one was directed by robert zemeckis (forest gump, castaway) if i'm not mistaken.

also the one where an older guy has a ventriliquist (sp) dummy and his aid is hving an affair with his young wife. they set up a fake death where it looks like the dummy kills his wife and the guy gets a heart attack. but then the doll comes to life i think.

tales from the crypt is an awesome tv show. i wish that it still had new episodes but sadly it doesn't. it had many famous people either starring or directing them. and the crypt keeper is easily an icon and imo has a hell of a lot better laught than chucky any day

avenger tell me the name of the dummy episode.

The dummy episode starred Zach Galligan of Gremlins fame as was called Strung Along...fitting title. Hehe.

That one was called Korman's Kalamity and starred Harry Anderson of Night Court fame.

Oh yeah, the animated episode "Three Little Pigs" was funny, too. :) I think that was toward the end of the series.

Yeah, Bobcat Goldthwaite did the voice of the wolf for that episode.
