"Medical thrillers"... I think of Coma, Outbreak, Contagion, War World Z, The Andromeda Strain, The Last Man on Earth, The Omega Man and the first Resident Evil.

The better ones of those would be: The Andromeda Strain and Resident Evil. I seem to remember liking Coma quite a bit... but I only saw it once on TV. I enjoyed WWZ and Last Man on Earth, but Outbreak and Contagion were fairly average.

I ranted and raved about this one the last time I was under nerve gas at a dentist office.... they didn't take too kindly to it.

Good medical horror movie

"Coma." But casting Richard Widmark as the doctor was like hanging a sign on him, "I am the bad guy."
Oops, spoiler.

this horror movie has some medical scenes

In Scream and Scream Again, this guy keeps waking up in the hospital with another limb missing.

"Where's the rest of me?" (Famous Ronald Reagan line.)

Safety tip

Don't go to a dentist who keeps quoting lines from Marathon Man.

"Is it safe?"

Thanks to the comic strip Robotman.

I am glad you brought up The Andromeda Strain

That movie made me think: Why is it that after we began to have rockets going into space, all kinds of bad things started coming to us out of space? Either brought back accidentally, like The Quatermass Experiment, or just got here on it's own, like The Blob.

That movie taught me a lesson: If a meteorite falls in your back yard and it is oozing slime, don't go near it. Cover it up with an upside down trash can and call the bomb squad.

I mean, meteorites have been hitting the ground since forever, and dust is always drifting into our atmosphere from space. It's not like the planet Earth has a wall around it. But there no monsters hitching a ride to Earth on meteorites.

I just thought of a great old movie! "20 million miles to Earth." Great special effects by Ray Harryhausen.
