Santa's Slay is a good time if you are looking for silliness in the vein of Gremlins and Killer Klowns from outer space. Goldberg is good,at least as long he does not have to speak and the film has a few good over the top kills, like the one with the menorah. Or the bit in the strip joint, where Goldberg spectaularly swings the stripper pole, like it will be some awesome weapon... only to end up kicking your fella in the dick.::big grin::

Good fun but I enjoyed the original more.

If im being honest, i couldnt finish the second one. The original was just too
good by comparison. The second one seemed to be trying too hard.

CANDY CORN 2019

A developmently-challenged youth is beaten to death by the town yahoos. A carnival owner brings him back to life to exact revenge. Lots of familiar faces in this.

I liked it.

Off of youtube. Its not under its name because of copyright. I just kind of stumble on them through generic titles.

HONEYSPIDER 2014

Strange encounters with spiders? Sounds bizarre.

Yeah, she kept seeing huge spiders in her car, at work and even in her own vomit. Also, she would see a spider symbol here and there. I really thought she was going to turn into Spiderman at one point.

Better than it has any business to be, given that it's a humble little picture from the Isle of Man. A washed up 80s tv-actor (think a low rent, British Steve Austin) is hired to help catch a criminal who believes the character is real, but he's only interested in using it for fame again.

Passes the 6 laugh test for sure.

LAND OF THE DEAD (2005). I like this, but it just doesn't resonate with Me like NIGHT, DAWN (those two will forever be in my Top 10) and DAY. It reminds Me a lot of the STAR WARS where the first three films are the keepers...the ground breaking premiere, the "Epic" sequel and a somewhat misunderstood third film, requiring a couple of viewings to get it. My wife loves Episodes 4-6, but has no patience with anything else after that. Nostalgia may play a factor or also less responsibilities.
Was very pleased when I heard George was making another Zombie film after the success of 28 DAYS LATER, DAWN OF THE DEAD reboot and SHAUN OF THE DEAD actually got him into a major studio (Universal) and some decent $$ (believe 15-20 million??).
To be honest, George was a Maverick and I enjoy the films where He didn't have a huge budget or big crew...this truly has "Too Many Cooks" and the same premise is pulled out where "The Dead walk and Man is his own worst enemy". Add to a cast of better known actors (certainly more known than the first three) and it doesn't resonate as much with Me. I even enjoyed Tom Savini's lower grade effects from earlier more than Nicotero's more advanced techniques, although Greg does pull off some good ones here. Still worth seeing and a oddly subdued Dennis Hooper (doing a Donald Rumsfeld?) is great here, especially when He bellows "You have NO RIGHT!" ***

MORTUARY 2005

A family move into an old mortuary after the father dies. The mother re-opens the business and stuff starts happening in the graveyard across from their property.

Kind of meh.

Tommy Jarvis 09-11-2020 11:56 AM

My Bloody Valentine 3D quickly completed the remake trifecta as perfected by Platinum Dunes.

- Ramp up the kill count
- Ramp up the gore
- Ramp up the douche

Add a bad case of main characteritis, sprinkle in some jump scares and one or two lame call backs to the original and boom, we're off to the races.

THE TAKING OF DEBORAH LOGAN 2014

Found- footage of a woman's descent into Alzheimer's disease. With a twist.
I enjoyed this.

If they made a TV show set in the "Land" universe, I'd probably watch. Seemed structured a bit like that somehow.

Damn, that cover looks like porn.

When I googled the cover read that it was crucified by critics.
What more can you say ::sad::

Nice that they let an opening for a third one.

I don’t see how a third movie would do it any good unless they seriously shake the Ball.

There’s something wrong with that expression. How does it go again?
