This science fiction horror film was produced and directed by Bert I Gordon who also wrote the story.
One of Gordon's better efforts, when released in 1958 it became a blockbuster.
The plot revolves around a giant spider living in a cave outside of town. This freak is discovered when Jack Flynn does not come home one night and his daughter and boyfriend go searching. Eventually the creature is caught, supposely euthanized and put on display for study in the local high school gym by the science teacher. Due to excessive noise the spider revives and terrorizes the town. It eventually goes back to the cave where the young couple is looking for the present her dad bought for her. Trapped in the cave, the couple manage to escape and the spider is finally killed by electrocution.
More watchable than most of Bert Gordon's films. The special effects are not bad either considering some of Gordon's earlier efforts.
This one I thought was well done.
