I don't think so, mostly for one main reason. Who in the hell could do such a fine job as portraying Ash like Bruce Campbell did? And seeing someone play Ash besides Bruce would be horrific.

That would be a big mistake. It would be an even bigger mistake if Bruce Campbell wouldn't be in it...

Is it possible to remake something of such great perfection?

Isn't Evil Dead II kind of a remake of the original anyway? At least a retelling.

He's actually been in quite a number of new flicks. He's got a few coming out too. He's also got a new book coming out.

I've mostly seen him in cameos lately. I didn't notice him in Spiderman until the second time I watched it though.

I could have sworn I just posted about this somewhere else....

I did! I did!

I don't think there should be a remake or a sequel or vs movie. I think they should rerelease it in the theater, cash in and then release a box set w/all three movies and a cool token of the Ash legend. Maybe they could have a little two-headed Ash figurine or one w/his boomstick - just some thoughts. A cool Ash toy would go well, I think. But you can't perfect perfection. There's nothing more to add or work with. Leave it the fuck alone.

HE IS IN A INDI FILM CALLED "BUBBA HO TEP" RIGHT NOW. HE PLAYS A RETIRED MAN WHO THINKS HE IS ELVIS AND HAS TO FIGHT A MUMMY TYPE MONSTER WITH OZZIE DAVIS IN A NURSING HOME. HE ALSO DID THE VOICE FOR THE PS2 GAME "EVIL DEAD:FIST FULL OF BOOM STICK" WHICH KICKS ALL SORTS OF ASS ESPECIALLY WITH A 19.99 PRICE TAG. HE WAS ALSO IN ONE OF THE DUSK TILL DAWN SEQUALS FOR LIKE 30 SECONDS BUT THE FILM WASNT WORTH SEEING. I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT SPIDERMAN I DIDNT NOTICE HIM IN "DARKMAN" TILL LIKE THE 3RD TIME THRU.

I think it shouldent be remade, it should just stay original not be remade and then remade again and then made in to something like evil dead 6. alot of scary films should just stay original unless a horror movie had a good idea but was totally crap then a film should be remade.:)

a remake of any of the series would be a mistake its bad enough there remaking dawn of the dead... i mean seriusly thats a horror classic right there romero set alot of new stages for horror movies... and they want to redoo a classic like that... but anyway the day they make a remake of evil dead might be the day i become a mass murderer

No remake! They just ruined Texas Chainsaw, don't wanna see that happen again. Could not imagine Evil Dead without Bruce. But it certianly would not surprise me if it happened seeing as there's remakes for among others Amityville Horror and The Hills Have Eyes on the way. Yuck. It seems the thing now to do is remakes when in the eighties it was just to do sequels.

"The evil dead" should not be remade. In fact, The movie should have never been made. I don't like the evil dead because people label it and "underground movie." I was talking to this kid once and he said he was into underground horror movies. I asked him what kind he liked and the first one he said was "the evil dead." Ha, really underground. They sell them at wal mart and target. Really underground huh? The movie is pretty overrated if you think about it. Was it even scary? No, it wasn't. It was more of a dark comedy. Look at Sam Rami (I don't know his last name) now. He is making movies like spider-man. So I don't think they should remake the evil dead. They shouldn't even make a fourth one. Take care!

Should The Evil Dead be remade? Hell yes, while they are at it, why not go ahead and remake Gone With The Wind, Taxi Driver, and Raging Bull? Heck, all "CLASSICS" deserve a remake. Jesus H. Christ, this insanity must end!

Oh, this is a painful topic!

Remake the Evil Dead. No, no way, never.

It shouldn't, couldn't, musn't be done.

That film was a benchmark in horror movies. Small budget, small (unknown) cast and imagination and desire by the bucketloads.

See the Texas Chainsaw remake for an example of why it shouldn't ever be done. Ok, the film wasn't that bad but I don't know about you guys but the whole time I was watching it I wanted to be sat in front of my DVD player watching the original.

At the end of the day, remakes are not for the fans, they are for the studios bank balances.

And as I speak, up comes the remake of 'Dawn'...

I shall go to see it. I go to see them all. But it will never change the fact that these ten a penny, chuck money at it till it drowns remakes never outdo the made on a shoestring, blood, sweat and tears originals.

And that's my ten penneth.

Regards.

RFlagg.

I'd prefer a fourth than a remake (not that I'm exactly counting on #4 to ever happen at this point)....the original was some oldskool good shit, I just don't think a remake could get the "feel" happening...

A definite no on this one. No remake of it at any cost.

A 4th one... I'm not that sure, but the way I see things moving, it's a strong possibility we see one coming soon.

Why...?

1 - Bruce Campbell's book came out and gave him a place under the spotlight.
2 - Sam Raimi's on a roll...
3 - They let out all sort of stupid rumors out there, like a Freddy VS Jason VS Ash movie possibility... Ridiculous
4 - Ash is a big seller with toys and figures.
5 - It's now more "politicaly correct" to make horror movies than in the late 90's where we saw a slow down in the genre.

So because all of these reasons, producers could grab some good money out of it, then all they need is a script now. be on the lookout for a next installment in this serie. Let's just hope it won't be a totaly rotten one...

I'm going to have to say no. What is the remake going to do? Have up to date graphics and sound, but different actors/actresses? It's fine the way it is. Older graphics and sound actually add to the creepiness to me. I hate remakes, fuck remakes.

The movie's a trilogy! It's done! Nothing to worry about though. I Sam Raimi would even think about making another.

A PART 4 WITH BRUCE CAMPBELL,COULD BE INTERESTING..MAYBE..!!!

Remake EVIL DEAD?

God, no - but in reality it will happen within the next decade, just as remakes of THE EXORCIST, HALLOWEEN and FRIDAY THE 13TH will happen once they run out of sequel ideas.

Best thing with horror "re-imaginings" is simply to avoid them - THE THING is the only one of any real worth (though having said that, Van Sant's frame-by-frame remake of PSYCHO wasn't bad at all - too bad the critics couldn't prise their tongues from Hitchcock's dead ass for long enough to see that).

USA big budget remake of THE VANISHING, anyone? Sickening thing about that one was, the original's director was attached...

The NIGHTWATCH remake wasn't too bad, though Bornedal did clean up some of the more blasphemous, necrophelic and dubious pornographic elements for the Amercian audience.

i agree ... never ever remake this film... to me though.. i kind of consider evil dead 2 to be evil dead with a better budget... and a lot of people seem to like evil dead 2 better because of this reason... for me.. i love them both to death... evil dead 1 because it was the original story and was so rich in content...

army of darkness i also love...

yeah. well if its a continuation of the series. with cambell and raimi, then i would love to see that. i agree with ya on the other 3 being excellent. but iwould sorta like to see four with a bit more horror in it. but still have a comedic edge to it. it'll be great stuff. but i wouldn't be suprised if they did a remake though, cause they know it would make a ton of bucks at the box office. because even a ardent fan of the series who is totally against a remake would most likely still go an see it. as would i..

Well that's it, isn't it?

Even if we all did not sell out and give money to the fatcat producers of remakes, the mainstream audience these movies are targetted at will provide more than enough revenue to justify pilfering the originals.

The underground is only the underground so long as it stays there - if the moneymen see potential in dragging cult and obscure concepts topside, there is nothing the fans can do to stop it.

If only a "re-imagining" of a classic could prove to be even more hard-hitting and of an aquired taste than the original... watching a teen audience vomit and run for the exits during the remake of THE NEW YORK RIPPER - now THAT would be funny...!

Still won't get me anywhere near the new Dawn, TCM or 'Salem's Lot, though.

The question is so damn stupid that I am refusing to answer... Anyone that actually thinks they should ever even consider re-making Evil Dead needs to be beaten down and left in a gutter.

As for Evil Dead 4, here's the link to Bruce Campbell's Website (http://www.bruce-campbell.com/projects/evil-dead-4.htm).

It's not ever going to happen.

"Still won't get me anywhere near the new Dawn, TCM or 'Salem's Lot, though."
i know what ya mean. rarely is the remake as good as the original. but i still get suckered into seeing the remakes, i don't know why. at least i wait for it to come out on dvd or something. i can understand them remaking a older movie that basicly had a real good idea storyline etc, but was poorly made. but i think if a classic was done right the first time like evil dead was they should leave it. the thing that i'm so jealous of. is that there is some highly paid wanker driving around hollywood in some fancy smancy car, meeting all those famous chicks, and getting paid big money. and for what..? sfa thats what. i think a typical scene in his day would go something like
big wig producer " mmmm i need a idea for a movie something fresh."
little wig producer " um how about we remake a classic movie?"
big wig producer " hey! great idea heres 90, million bucks"
little wig producer" ugh only 90 million..? that wont leave much after all the cgi i'll need. i know ill hire some drunken hack to rewrite the screen play, and hire some noone name talentless actors. and aim it at the teen market, those dumb fucks will think its the best thing since sliced bread. omg i smell a mtv award coming on.
