How about Jacob's Ladder, Twelve Monkeys and Sante Sangre? Or the hilarious Fear and Loathing...?

You would probably like Phillip Ridley:
-- The Reflecting Skin
-- The Passion of Darkly Noon
-- Heartless

You will probably also like Gilliam's Tideland.

To be honest, I found Tideland quite abhorrent. Creepy, but not in a good way. I think of it as further proof the Gillium is a crazy person, but isn't harnessing the crazy as well as he used to. Read some reviews before checking out - I don't want my opinion to cloud you seeing it... But I just didn't really get why it had to be made... Ugh.

Regardless, might be what this kid is looking for.

Haven't seen Darkly Noob either, but based on what I've read it might fit his bill.

Oh yeah, it's great. Amazing visually.

I'm with you on this. It was just a big mess. Also, I thought it was so frustrating and irritating that he added that disclaimer warning that "some people won't like this movie" before it even started. It just took away credibility and made him seem like he wasn't even confident in his own film. That really set me off on the wrong foot, even before the thing started.

Anyway, some more suggestions:

Oh and forgot Gilliam's masterpiece-The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen though its more fantasy than horror.

Oh and Kafka!
