A surprisingly good horror movie in the tradition of The Lottery or Harvest Home. I was really impressed with it.http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OLw8gvO10a4/SwDlpfUgmzI/AAAAAAAAA4U/-LHJxjskp4E/s1600/POPULATION+436.jpg

I actually liked Population 436 better than The Lottery.

I was talking about the old 60'/70's short film..I didn't realise there was a more recent feature based on it..

I just watched the 1969 short film The Lottery and I would recommend that over the 1996 television movie.

I found it on youtube. It looks like it was made for school viewing so it's got this really creepy educational short vibe to it.

I have not seen the Lottery, what is that movie about? Anyway I was not to impressed with Population 436 myself, it was okey, but it was not completely my cup of tea, but then I only like paranormal movies, and while there may or may not be a curse or some Divine reason to keep the population just right in this film it was not the focus of the movie so that may be the reason why it did not completely satisfy my tastes, but I did like the mystery of it that was fun.

A small town has a lottery every year. Everyone selects a slip of paper and the one who gets the paper with the black spot - I won't give away. Possibly my favorite horror short story, but you probably wouldn't like it because there's nothing supernatural in it.

Thank you for the information. The story sounds interesting but yes it is not exactly my style, however I will read up on the story on google and see if it is something for me anyway. Thanks again. :)
