This bit of news is for all our UK-based residents. (and those who can make the trip to the UK)

The line-up for the 2009 London Film Festival has been announced, and it looks like a little bit of Hollywood will be hitting the capital for a fortnight in October.

The most star-studded screening is set to be Wes Anderson's adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic Fantastic Mr. Fox. Although the film has been made using stop-animation, the voice cast will nevertheless be heading to town to promote the movie, including Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and George Clooney.

It will be a busy week for the Clooney as he also has recent festival favourites The Men Who Stare at Goats and Up in the Air playing as gala screenings.

Other gala entries include Cormac McCarthy adaptation The Road, the Coen brothers latest A Serious Man, Cannes favourite A Prophet and the hotly tipped British feature An Education.

On the comedy front, Mike Judge's Extract will make its UK bow at the fest, alongside Paper Heart, Cold Souls, Taking Woodstock and the Mighty Boosh-starring Bunny and the Bull.

Other films on the list include action epic Valhalla Rising, adult drama 44-Inch Chest and whistle-blowing comedy The Informant!, which apparently features a grandstanding central performance from Matt Damon.

The whole shebang ends with the world premiere of Nowhere Boy, Sam Taylor-Wood's examination of John Lennon's formative teenage years in Liverpool.

The Times BFI London Film Festival runs from October 14-29 - for full details simply head to the official site.
