On Saturday April 11th, Madison Horror presents the Horror Host Matinée at the Market Square Cinema located at 6604 Odana rd. in Madison, WI. This event will feature three films with each being hosted by local horror hosts.
The event begins at 11:30 AM with the cult classic by director Ed Wood Jr. Plan 9 from outer space. Originally billed as Grave robbers from outer space, Plan 9 stars Bela Lugosi and Vampira. This campy 1959 film has often been labeled as the worst movie ever made but has gained a cult following none the less. This film will be hosted by Dick Flanigan of Madison's famed Lennies Inferno with segments of the the Inferno edited into the performance.
Dr. Ivan Cryptosis of WYOU's Saturday Night Frights will then host the film Vampira: The Movie. This 2006 documentary directed by Kevin Sean Michaels, chronicles the life of Maila Nurmi, the first horror host. We will close out the day with Freakshow and the Harlots of Horror from the Madison based on line video horror show, Bordello of Horror. They will be hosting the film American Scary directed by John E. Hudgens and written by Sandy Clark. American Scary is a look at the nation's tradition of horror hosting, from Zacherley to A. Ghastlee Ghoul.
