I don't know if this is true. I came across this but it sounds legit to me

Platinum Dunes continues its reimaginative ways by taking yet another beloved horror franchise and giving it the remake treatment. The next one up? A Nightmare on Elm Street. So what are their intentions?

"It's our next movie," Form tells Shock, "Shooting will begin in late spring. We already have a director and casting has just begin."

"It's like what we're doing to Friday the 13th," says Fuller. "It's not Freddy cracking jokes. We want to make a horrifying movie. The concept is so scary, don't fall asleep or you'll die. This guy gets you when you're most vulnerable, in your sleep. We love that. That's the basis of the movie. It'll be most similar to the first one but in terms of kills and dreams we'll borrow from the entire series."

When asked if Englund will be back, "Fuller and Form say they're seeking someone new to don the hat and red 'n green sweater, but they're hopeful Englund will be back for a part in the film."

Fuller gives a short preview on the plot to the remake of A nightmare on Elm st. " Its not really a remake, its more of a reinventing of the series which it desperately needs. It takes place in today's time being 2009. Basically the story is about this 16 year old beautiful, sweet, energetic girl-next door type teenager name Kelly, she just moved into 1428 Elm, which happens to be Freddy's old house. She's been having some pretty terrible nightmares, her parents, her sister don't believe her but she soon learns the kids at her new school been having the exact same dream. The Nightmare remake has your typical stereotypes; 'The SchoolSlut', 'The School badboy', 'The Niceguy' 'The teen rebel', all befriend the sweet and innocent Kelly, who is the only one, who can stop this dream killer before he gets her. We will also be embarking in Krueger's backstory alittle; thanks to modern technology like google, it could be easy for the teens of springwood to find things out about the child killer.
