Eight years after Troy Duffy's police actioner "The Boondock Saints" disappeared quickly from theaters, he's come back to direct "The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" from his own script.

Chris Brinker and Don Carmody are producing the sequel, which has started shooting in Toronto. Lloyd Segan and Rob Fried exec produce.

Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus are reprising their roles as brothers dispensing vigilante justice in Boston. Clifton Collins Jr., Billy Connolly, Julie Benz, David Della Rocco, Bob Marley, Brian Mahoney and David Ferry also star.

Duffy originally sold "The Boondock Saints" to Miramax, which initially planned a $15 million budget but later dropped the project. Duffy eventually shot "Saints" on a smaller budget, but the pic was distributed into only five theaters, where it grossed about $30,000.

Duffy's travails were chronicled in the 2003 documentary "Overnight," directed by Mark Brian Smith and Tony Montana.

I watched 'Overnight' during one of my filmmaking travels. Geez, did that guy come off bad in it.

He really burned his bridges didn't he. Do know if this can be any good seems like he thinks he is bigger than he is.
