The cast of the big screen adaptation of Mark Millar's ultraviolent Marvel comic Kick-Ass is beginning to fill up, with Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson and Lyndsy Fonseca signing on for the project today, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Brit thesp Johnson (last seen in rubbish girls flick Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging) is set to play central character Dave Lizewski, the high school geek who decides to become the titular superhero, despite lacking superpowers or indeed basic physical attributes.

Cage will play a former cop who, in his quest to bring down an evil druglord, has trained his teenage daughter (Chloe Moretz) to be a lethal weapon, while Fonseca plays the object of Dave's affections who unfortunately believes he's gay.

Christopher Kintz-Plasse (McLovin in Superbad) is already onboard as Kick-Ass's nemesis, The Red Mist.

The last adapation of Millar's work was the similary violent and demented Wanted.
