I almost put Jarmush. Stranger Than Paradise just blew me away the first time I saw it.

cool lists - i like the mix of new and old

though i'm still shocked that more of the 'classic movie' lists don't have howard hawks - the man was amazing! and innovated in every genre from horror (the original THING - which he 'really' directed) comedy (Bringing up Baby) westerns (Red River) gangster films (he directed the original 1932 version of Scarface)! come on people - some love for the hawk!
