I've just started collecting horror movies recently. Just about all of its fairly new since ive been getting most of my movies from blockbuster, but ive found a few older things like Night of the Living Dead from other places. Heres a list of all the Horror movies i own right now.
The Amityville Horror(2005)
Anacondas(I dont know if i would consider this as horror but the library and movie store do)
Black Cadillac
Boogeyman
The Cave
Child's Play 3
The Descent
Fear Dot Com
The Fog(2005)
Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell
Freddy vs Jason
The Grudge 2
Halloween 2
The Hills Have Eyes(2006)
House of Wax(2005)
Stephen King's IT
Kingdom Hospital(not really a movie but part of a tv series on a dvd)
Leprechaun
Night of the Living Dead(original)/Carnival of Souls
Nightmare on Elm Street
The Ring
The Ring Two
Ringu
Saw
The Secret Window
Swarmed
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2003)
The Village
Werewolf Hunter
When A Stranger Calls
Wicker Man(2006)
Wolf Creek
Dawn of the Dead(2004)(VHS)
The Blair Witch Project(VHS)
The Wicker Man(1973)(VHS)
I'd welcome any comments. Any suggestions of movies I need to get? Like I said before, I got most of these from blockbuster, since i can get them for 5 bucks each if i buy a couple at a time. Theres still a lot of movies i want to get, especially a lot of older movies that i can't find for sale at the store. Ill probably have a bunch more movies by the end of the summer, since im mostly sitting around doing nothing right now.

What do you think of my horror collection?
I think that you've got around 5 good titles among a bunch of predominately post 90's shit, and that you need to work on bactracking.

Yea i'll admit that i own a lot of recent crap. I dont really care for a lot of the recent remakes that i've seen. The Fog and The Amityville Horror remakes really didnt add much at all to the original films. Im suprised that they ever bothered to remake the fog in the first place. Ill probably start looking into the internet to see if i can get some older horror films.

You need the original Dawn of the Dead (get the ultimate edition) and no Evil Dead flicks? No Thing? Check out the top 100 thread and get some off that list. Looks like you've got a good base to start from though, you have some good films and yet plenty of room for better ones.

Here's something funny, folks. I saw the remake of "The Fog" recently and...I thought it was half-decent! Not a great movie, but nowhere near as horribly bad as I had heard, in my opinion. I am a big fan of the original film, and was prepared to be pretty harsh on this one, but for the most part I thought it was fine.

The remake of the Fog didnt really add enough to the original justify having been made. They gave it a slightly better storyline, slightly better characters, and made everything seem a little more modern and that was about it. I enjoyed it just because i like stuff like ghostly pirates, but it really wasnt that amazing. I really should have rented a lot of this stuff before buying it, like that wicker man remake that was horrible compared to the original.
I'm looking into getting stuff off the internet right now. Most of these movies have come from places like blockbuster, which sell mainly recent stuff.

Explore some classics and serious grindhouse flicks. deepdiscount.com will take care of you on those counts. Buying from local videostores gets you the occasional treasure, but it also leaves you tempted to settle for crap every now and again. I built my VHS collection at a local video store and ended up with a bunch of stuff I don't watch, but then again I also found Suspiria for three bucks and Bride of Chucky for a dollar.

I like those videohound books, they have one for cult films you should check out as it will give you a HUGE list of cult films to look out for. I have the Asian cinema volume and am adding to that list right now...

Ick...that shit was stickier than bubblegum. It was, like, a feel-good horror movie.

I hated it.
