I haven't seen Oldboy yet, but it is in my queue. However, I'm now wondering if I should bother. I caught Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance last night and found it extremely boring. So are Oldboy and Lady Vengeance worthwhile or not?

If you really thought that Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance was boring, than I'd be willing to bet that you won't like Oldboy either. They are very similar in a lot of ways.

But if you're just asking if it's worthwhile? Yes, it is.

I wouldn´t call "Oldboy" slowgoing at all. And neither would i compare it with "Sympathy...". Oldboy is more of an action movie than Sympathy was.

I highly recommend it. And i wasn´t a big fan of "Sympathy..." either. ;)

Sympathy is a lot slower than Oldboy because it's meant to show a different aspect of vengeance. Oldboy is much more action packed and really I think the story is played out better. Great trilogy but I think for me it will always be Oldboy, then Lady, and then Sympathy. The hammer scene alone in Oldboy contains more action than both the other Vengeance movies if that helps.

Oldboy fucking rools. It's one of the best movies in the last 5 years IMO. I did like SFMV as well tho, although i wish id seen it first as Oldboy is better. On the other hand, my GF said pretty much what you said about mr vendgence. she didnt like it thouoght it was slow yadda yadda. She did however love oldboy as well.

Watch Oldboy, please

Now that you've been broken in to Park Chan-Wook's style (regardless of your feelings toward SFMV), you'll really love this film.

It's too good to be ignored:)

I saw Oldboy for the first time last night. Those of you who said that I would probably like it more than Mr. V were correct. This is one I'll end up buying eventually. However, I must say that I'm surprised by the various "greatest film in the last 5 years" comments I have read here and in other forums. It was certainly worth watching, but I found no reason for all the hype surrounding it.

looks pretty nice, i still think id rather have the

http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=2339;5;-1;-1&sku=567110

edition just for the collectibilty aspect, but i already have all three flix. the hammer bottle opener would be sweet tho, of course it would probly just get ripped off like my scarface moneyclip did. i believe all the xtras on this one are only in korean as well, which doesnt really give me huge wood.
