100% Beginner, 85% Intermediate, 73% Advanced, and 93% Expert

I've got a high expert score, but my in between scores are lacking. *Rubs chin* I'm out of practice... (Amongst my Occult books are grammar books and books on writing format, so as I writing I flip back and forth to make sure my verb tenses are consistant and that I'm not switching from transitive to intransitive verbs when I shouldn't, etc..).

Eh, not too bad...:

You scored 100% Beginner, 92% Intermediate, 86% Advanced, and 73% Expert!

Burning in Hell
09-13-2006, 07:28 AM
100% Beginner, 85% Intermediate, 86% Advanced, and 80% Expert

Considering that English is not my native tongue, I'm pretty satisfied with these results!

You said, "so as I writing I flip back". More than a comma, you're lucky the grammar police haven't picked you up yet! ;)

HAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! :D

It was a fucking typo, which was why I kept overlooking it. I was reading what I meant to type, ya dig? Silly!:D

Usher and I are tied with 93% at the "expert level." We're both writers... Every dog has her or his day.

(Unless he'd like to profess that I am some how inferior. *quirks eyebrow*)

I could never presume superiority. I humbly bow before you.

It doesn't test grammar at all, just commonly misused words. Anyway, you could have gotten 100% on all of them and not been scored that way.

"This is how it works: I wrote the questions, and I assigned points to each correct question. The program (or whatever it is called) on OKCupid calculates your score based on your answers and the points that I assigned to each answer. Sometimes its calculations are wrong, giving you 0% when you answered all of them correctly in reality.

I am very sorry about this; however, there is nothing I can do about it! That is one of the main reasons I created this blog - so you can check your answers. Please don't get mad at me and post the fact that OKCupid scored your test wrong."

YOU SHOULD!!!!!!! No, seriously...:D

They were playing "silly buggers" all along! So... I WIN! Actually, I know I fucked up on a couple of the questions, because I thought about them in retrospect and had a Homer Simpson moment.

Er...I know this wasn't on the test, but could some one explain the difference between e.g. and i.e. to me again, in so far as their use in a sentence and so forth? I get confused.

:)

:)

e.g. stands for the Latin "exempli gratia" which translates directly to "for the sake of example."

i.e. is, you guessed it, Latin again this one stands for "id est" which is literally "that is."

e.g. is "for example"
i.e. is "in other words"

Cool! I never knew what they meant. I thought i.e. stood for "in example", so I've been using the wrong one all these years.

stick with e.g. unless you're using terminology that someone may not get.
