Hey kids! I'm back after having spent an amazing week in England. I'm very tired right now so this is all I'm going to say for now, except goodnight and I'll post about my trip tomorrow! Missed you guys!

Great to see you again hammerfan! I'm glad to hear you had a good time, while I was sitting here jacking it to some porno, depressed that my life wasn't going anywhere, and neither was I. But, my personal life aside, I'm glad to see you back!

Yay! Now it's time to go pick out the special kitty!

I hope you're ready to post pictures and give detailed accounts of where you've been.

We'll probably go look at the babies either this week or next week.

I have to get the pictures developed first, then I'll put them on here. I'll give details tomorrow - right now my brain's not working too well to remember the details.

If I went to England, the FIRST thing I'd do is try to find Zwoti.....He'd make an EXCELLENT tour guide;)......

As for Shanks...I think it would be impossible to find him...I don't think that even Shanks could find Shanks all the time:D

Oh...And....WELCOME BACK!!!

Unfortunately, no, I didn't get to meet either of them. It was kind of a weird week - my hostess was so intent on making everything perfect that when something went wrong she went bonkers. So, I didn't feel comfortable asking if we could meet with other friends of mine.

It was everything I expected and more. Whenever we went somewhere I spent most of the time looking around in awe, not really believing I was there. It was like stepping through a time machine and going back to the past. There was an amazing little pub we went to in Albury called The Valiant Trooper. It was built in the 1600s (I think) and all the villagers went there for lunch. Everyone knew everybody there, except for the three of us. I think it was the best part of the trip. Sitting in this pub, having lunch and taking in the atmosphere.

Thanks, Rayne. It's good to be home. I love traveling, but it's always nice to come home. The first thing I did was get a pizza!

It was truly an amazing week. My friend and her husband live about an hour from London, in the country. Just beautiful!

Thanks, zomb. OK, so now I'm at work sitting at my desk feeling like I'm coming down with something - sore throat, congested, coughing. This sucks!

HF-

So glad you enjoyed it. I totally agree about the local places being the most interesting - whenever I've traveled I try to spend as much time as possible in the local pubs, cafes, whatever. That's where real life happens - which is so familiar and strange at the same time.

I also think its fairly normal to feel a bit flu-ish after an overseas flight - all that recycled air and travel. . . i always have a few "bed days" after coming back.

Cheers!

As for your hostess getting her panties in a twist, that does tend to take the fun out of it a bit, and make people feel uncomfortable....I'm glad you were able to have a wonderful time in spite of it:)

By the way hammerfan, I was wondering if you ever saw "Horror Express," one of my favorite Christopher Lee/Peter Cushing films--the one about the train with the horrible maniac monster on it. I bet you have. Anyway, one of my favorite bits is that thing when the policeman is trying to quietly alert the scientists on the train that the monster is some kind of mind-hopper that can inhabit different people's bodies, and he says to Lee and Cushing, "One of you may be the monster!"

And Cushing looks up, startled and somewhat insulted. "Monster?? We're British, you know!"
