Wormwood is a collection of short stories from the author Poppy Z. Brite. I purchased this book after reading another novel of hers called Lost Souls and visiting my local Barns and Noble in search for more. That was two years ago, and my copy of this book (Wormwood) is now worn and looks like a steamroller ran over it a few times. I absolutely adore this book, and i reccomend it to anyone who appritiates modern horror literature mixed with a little smut and mushrooms.

Stories in the book include:

His Mouth Will Taste of Wormwood - an adaption of Lovecraft's "The Hound".

Calcutta, Lord of Nerves - a tastey bit about the living dead in a 3rd world country with a great casual swing on the situation.

The Ash of Memory, The Dust of Desire - a somewhat long tale of pro choice machinery and betrayal.

There are many more, and they're all quite good. I love Poppy's writing style and her knack for detail without being annoying like Anne Rice sometimes can be. Personaly, Lost Souls is my pick over any Anne Rice novel. Brite's vampire's are much more realistic, if realistic can describe vampires...

Pick this book up and read it. Sorry if this description seems sketchy, it's hard to sum up a multi story book without taking three hours out of my schedule.
