Tommy is great I love the song Keith Moon does.... cracks me up.
I think my favorite movie in this vein is Phantom of the Paradise.

Tim Burton's a genius if you give him the right script, Danny Elfman is awesome and dem songs kick ass.

It's just a great movie.

Tommy had Tina Turner in it..... and she sucks.

I'm really not big on musicals. I've never seen My Fair Lady and most likely won't.
Not that there's anything wrong with them...to each their own.

i've always loived old musicals ... oklahoma is another one.
when you see these old classics you find you know a lot of the songs that you didnt realize they were from films.

i seperate musicals with music-oriented movies ....
when i think of musicals i think of those old MGM classics.

Little Shop Of Horrors is the only true musical mentioned as of late - as far as the formula goes ..
(people bursting into song out of the blue)

Let me sing you one from Hair.
I may be a little rusty....its been a while since I was in the Glee-Club.

She asks me why
I'm just a hairy guy
I'm hairy noon and night
Hair that's a fright
I'm hairy high and low
Don't ask me why
Don't know
It's not for lack of break
Like the Grateful Dead
Darling

Gimme head with hair
Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy daddy

This is where you and I differ, my friend. I enjoy JCSS, in fact I've seen the live version a number of times. Once in my home town with the original Jesus and Judas.Dennis DeYoung from STYX played Pontius Pilate in that one. Then I saw it at the WANG [ heeheehee ] Center in Boston. Another time was at a small club in Boston where Jesus was played by Gary Cherone from Extreme and Van Halen.
Funny story....as Jesus was walking by me during the show, I was leaning against the wall and he triped over my boot.It was funny to me anyway.

South Park and Cannibal the Musical are both musicals too.

What formula are you using?
All songs?

Yep. South Park and Cannibal both pass that test.

god damn hippies !

Judas was totally the best character in that movie. Everybody else is doing their boring hippie stuff and Judas was like "Hey, didn't he just say he's going to die?" Plus, his songs were the best
