View Full Version : Major Movie Stars in Horror before they were BIG!

This thread is for the fact that I am always interested in looking back at horror movies whether they were good or not and seeing if there was any actor or actress that was in it and after became a big star. For example Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street and Kevin Bacon in either the first or second Friday the 13th. My first contribution to this thread is Drew Barrymore is in Waxwork 2. She is in the scene that is supposed to be from the movie Nosferatu. She is one of the girls laying in the bed.

Barrymore was beyond famous when she did Waxwork 2, that was just a cameo. The biggest skeleton in the closet I can think of is Brad Pitt's. He was in Cutting Class.

Kelly Hu was in Friday the 13th - Jason takes Manhatton. It was her first movie role, and she has appeared in movies like 'The Scorpion King' and 'X-Men 2'. So she has done pretty good for herself.

A few others I thought of:

Giovonni Ribisi in Mindripper
Emilio Estevez in Nightmares
Jack Nicholson in The Terror
Steve McQueen in The Blob
Patricia Arquette and Lawrence Fishburne in Nightmare on Elm Street 3
Seth Green in It
Viggo Mortensen in Leatherface
And both Corey's started out in horror.

I'll post more as I think of them.

Shit, just thought of more:

Jennifer Aniston in Leprechaun
Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger in TCM 4
Bill Paxton and Bill Pullman in Brain Dead
Marisa Tomei in The Toxic Avenger
Crispin fucking Glover in Friday 4

Dammit,

Stephen Dorff in The Gate
Ving Rhames in People Under the Stairs
Leonardo Dicaprio in Critters 3
Sly Stallone in Deathrace 2000
Billy Bob Thornton in Chopper Chicks in Zombietown

Okay, I'm stopping here unless I think of a really good one. But just about everyone in Hollywood has been in some kind of a horror film. It's a good place to start out I suppose.

Well, Halloween isn't exactly a skeleton in Jamie Lee's closet. That movie was a huge success and made her a star so I wasn't thinking about it.

- Steve Buscemi was in 'Tales from the Dark Side - the movie'. That was about 2 years before his breakthough role in 'Reservoir Dogs'.

- Mitch Pileggi (Skinner from the X-Files) was the killer in 'Shocker'.

I forgot to check at the end of it.

I dunno...
he was in M.A.S.H once or twice, that stupid ass BORING over-rated airplane comedy Flying high that only had one funny line., poseidon adventure for a litle bit...

He also played Frank Drebin in the series they more or less based the Naked Gun films I think it was called "police squad"...which was actually a pretty damn funny show, along with the first 2 movies...
As for horror, yes, he was in prom night, and I think he was in creepshow - one of the stories in one of 'em anyway? Either that or a guy that looks plenty like him...

He's meant to have been in HEAPS of stuff though.
